But, i had it down to -160 and 6.3 ghz so it looks like that might have been the ticket. I'll give it a go tomorow night and see. I also flashed back to the 602 bios. IDK if that made a difference or not. I think i'll put the 704 on bios#2 and see if its a go. But right now i'm a very happy camper. I don't mind killing hardware as long as i know it was me. But when shit dies and i did nothing to make it die that i know of, i get really, really pissed.
Duke I got the bad boot block message with 704 last night when benching on ln2, I think that 5987 bios or whatever fucks shit up when you have it saved to one of the chips.

Well i never put that bios on my new board Splave and i ended up with the same thing monday noght. It;s now confirmed that my 980x is dead. I'm sending it out tomorrow, The 920 and the 5870 boot without a problem on the R3, but i'm getting the boot block thing with my 980X. Its gotta be my chip. But if you're gtting that message idk. Oh well we will see when i get the new cpu.

Guys I don't bench since a little after Memorial Day and my R3 is full of spider webs. Reading this all is making me confused:

- Isn't the 5987 the bios that removes the CB?
- Does the latest bios (702 and 704) have the same CB removal function?
- Why the 704beta not as good as the 702?

Thanks!
