I was reading an artical on the NF200 used in the ROG Maximus 3
After reading I looked at the specs of the R4E and they are configed identical
this is the way it worked
4x 16x slots top to bottom
the other ones are not even in the equasion
Slot 1 occupied = 16x
Slots 1 & 2 occupied = 8x8
Slots 2 & 3 occupied = 8x8
Slots 2 & 4 occupied = 8x8
Slots 1, 2 & 4 occupied = 8x16x16x
Slots 1, 2, 3 & 4 occupied = 8x8x8x8
So what I am going to do is throw my creative card in slot 1 and the 580's in 2 & 4 for full 2x 16x lanes
It only supports 3 way SLI/CF but it will accomidate physicscard, controloer card or sound card even with three cards in the slots
Wow I did not know Asrock was Asus .....
They have some really good pricing and their boards seem to get better and better
