@Rogue210 Re:2d benches

I noticed at the bottom of you're recent runs you've been :argh: your head. Don't get frustrated and thx for being so active on the benchmarks.

If you need help tweaking the operating system or making tweaks to get benches to run faster, just post up a new thread in the Hwbot Discussion area and the guys would be more than happy to share some hints and tips.

Some Tips off the top of my head:

1) some 2d benches run faster if you change the windows theme to classic
2) shut down all unecessary processes including virus scanners and messengers
3) Open the app and then use cntl+alt+Delete to bring up the processes tab and kill the explorer.exe process. Once the benchmark is completed, hit cntrl+alt+delete again, new task-------- explorer.exe, this will bring the desktop back online.
4) there was another having to do with page files and stuff but I can't remember it.

Anybody else wanna chime in????????

I already shut down processes but didn't know about explorer.exe. i'll try that and the theme thing. I wish I knew more about tweeking and OC'ing my ram.

Some benches like XP more then Vista and vise versa.

I'll be playing more with XP when I build my new rig.... Don't want to mess around too much with my everyday rig LOL.

No thank you and Jeffro for the participation :trophy: You'll get the hang of it soon enough and when you start beating personal scores you'll be hooked ;)

XP would solve alot of your headaches :rolleyes:

Jeffro64 04-29-2009 05:50 PM

Hmmmm.... But how does that really work over there? I mean every time I submit it is a better score than what I submitted the last time, and some things just get no points at all.

Maybe I should have started out with stock settings and one GPU and worked my way back up to where i'm at now. And using XP to start LOL!
