5970x2 cross fire x fan control?
Anybody aware of the fix to get the second card fan speeds to respond?
I finally got my new 24/7 system up and running but theres a hitch on gpu2's fan speed. System Specs: Intel 980x ASUS RE3 2x3 Perfect Storms 5970 x 2 Asus Xonar X2 4xRaptor on Areca 1220 Raid 0 HDDVD/BluRayray Silverstone 1200w Zeus Romulan Accessorized Bancheto 101 |
sick 24/7 sys!!!
sorry no answr to your q. sick!!! |
Does it work by itself? Do the cards have the same bios? Which drivers have you tried? Why are they called horse shoes? Are there any horse socks?

Its wierd, set both GPU fans to 100% and GPU1 will scale up in fan speeds in the os while GPU2 sits like a bump on the log. At shutdown, GPU2 jumps to 100% just before shutoff.
Drivers: Latest from ATI. 10-6 Tried CCC alone and then tried Afterburner latest vanilla edition to no avail. Feeling like dumping GPU2 right about now. Update, opened GPU-z to find out bios revision and GPU2 fan speeds increased. Uknown if it'll stay that way in 3D applications????? |
Dam supes ... That is a sick grinder you have there ...
freakin more hard core than my bencher ............... Might as well say effit and grab some SSD ... don't want those mechanicals slowing you down Quad Fire Driver support is a joke I would dump one of them if it were me ... If not : 10.3 will be your best shot IMO if you stay with two If not what about the OEM crapware control software that came with them ? what's the flavor |
I like the way Witchie is going with this.... try installing precision or abe and link the cards, then adjust fan speed to see what happens. Worth a shot.
If that doesn't work, riva or ati tray tools should be able to lock the cards in 3d performance mode... that may do the trick as well... |
Why do you need two 5970's to play UT3? :taunt:
|
MSI cards, I'll try going backwards on the drivers but I seem to recall the same shit happening there as well. Hoped having these on the shelf long enough would enable some x-fire game testing. Seems manufacturers forget how to build things that just work!

It's most likely that 2d low bug or what have you.... Lock that bastage in 3d perf. mode and she'll sing you right out of your pants...

Just remove the blue wires from the fan wire harness and they will run at 100% all the time.

Riva should allow you to clone clock and fan control across the two cards.
Also allows fan profiles if you want. |

Holy Hell, GPU2 with the lackluster fan control cooked my frucking XonarD2x sound card. Mother fruckin bastige. Sound went wierd, pulled the sound card which is next to GPU2 and burned my finger on the sound card exterior case. This is gonna be a bad day for hardware.

sucks man, the dead hw is strong in this forum

here ya go supes ... refound this as I used to have to do this when running XF
if you make a profile in catalyst after turning on Overdrive( make sure clock and memory settings are correct). You can then go to the file "C:\Users\Bretware\AppData\Local\ATI\ACE\Bretw are. XML. the xml file will have the same name as the catalyst profile you saved. right click and hit edit. <Feature name="FanSpeedAlgorithm_0"> <Property name="FanSpeedAlgorithm" value="Manual" /> </Feature> <Feature name="FanSpeedRPMTarget_0"> <Property name="Want" value="0" /> </Feature> <Feature name="FanSpeedPercentTarget_0"> <Property name="Want" value="65" /> Change the value to "manual" and Want value to "65" Save the file then reload your profile in catalyst. 65% seemed perfect for me, 70% was loud but you may need it if your case has poor air flow. You will may have to select the profile everytime you start the computer, but it will work until there is a fix or better info so i can figure how to change the auto target temp. what ever you change the value to is what they will run at so you will have to make two profiles ... one for gaming and one for surfing probably good luck Sucks having to load your profile every time but is does work |
I had just about tossed this one to the wind, I'll re-install the second GPU (sound card KILLER!) and give it a whirl bro. For now, its Realtek Audio pimp daddy.

ive never used a sound card, any noticeable difference?

Creative = Win for a gamer
Acurate Positional sound a must for a crawler like me ...... "A lone bullet from unknown orgine" you dead already, and don't even know it (Jamacan accent required, followed by evil laugh) |
Oh yah, Ive heard fookers walking up behind me and popped a cap in their arse. Footsteps, shot direction, crystal clear music, its been worth it especially with the dx2 xonar.
