Thanks, but it seems limited on the max volts you can apply :( Will Afterburner work with this card?

Yeah it does kinda. Am I reading it correctly that it can only go to 1.1625 Engine Volts and 1.15 Memory Volts?

Yes, when you use afterburner does the mv volts work with both of these....I think you could use both of these at one time if AB only works one...

As you can tell i really don't understand it...

Soups would know if the HIS that works good for him has no error's...This card is error free so far....

I am fairly sure that AB just works core voltage. Don't think mem voltage is all that important on air as a slight mem over-overclock can screw up your whole run. Just keep the mem around 1250 if you can get it stable and push that core baby!

Default 3d06

I had said i had reloaded the 3D06 program 2 times and I did but I remembered I hadn't since I put the XFX in and WALA!!!!!!!!!!!

Just a walk in the park so to speak...Basicly I can't catch up to soups but i did run this with the AB and the XFX program at 4.500...
I have to say the 5970 just as the 5870 has me looking twice..I really didn't thank they could beat the 4870x2 TOP by much because it was in a league of it's own....29300 with the top at 4.5.....

I will come back and add the run with the XFX which I still don't really understand...I think that is the fun of it.....

The XFX volt program is still beyond me..as you can see I ran the AB at 834/1135 and the XFX volt at 820/1125...I know..I am a NOOB.....

Try using AB to only adjust voltages. Use CCC to adjust the clocks and fan speeds. Use the drop down GPU selector in CCC if need be for quad fire 5970 setups.

I'm sure you can squeeze out a 4.6+ run with that chip depending on temps.

I think so but you or some others might have to help me..4.500 to 4.525 is my max for 06 and Vantage.....Although it is getting colder here!!!

You upping voltages on IOH core and IOH/ICH I/O volts?

I bump EVERYthing up for 4.6+ on the 920

I can run 4.650 with the graphics test like 03,05, aqua....

It's with the cpu test like vantage and 06 I have trouble getting up there.
The 975 has always seemed to require heavy voltage...As far as the IOH I run this at 1.34-1.38...with the ICH the P6T7 will only allow you to go to 1.40......The other one IOH PCI-E or it could be ICH PCI-E I leave on auto...

I think it's the ram..I just did a 4525 run in 3D06 but loosened the timings to 8-8-8-21 and had a good run....It could be I need to loosen them more for Vantage..Vantage is more CPU oriented than any of the Futuremark test...

This is my PB with a single 5970 and at 4.525... later I will try 4550 and loosen the timings to 9-9-9-24...This is at 1451 ram speed....

was the ram speed..I loosened timings to 9-9-9-24 and ran 4.550..Good run but only 45 points more... Couldn't do 4575..I am wondering if i should try a lower ram speed like 1101????I am also using the XFX volt tool mostly because of a article(many) that I read on I4 and a few other places about major problems with the 5870 and 5970..some of the articles point towards AB causing the gray screen lock-ups..This could and probably means nothing.....

Default 3D05 comparison

Only bench the 5970 hadn't bettered over the TOP was 3D05 until now....
As far as comparing the two cards XFX or HIS I couldn't really do it since i had a problem HIS card but i think they are probably the same...

The XFX overvolt program only works better in 3d03 that I have seen..I also don't really understand it's low numbers...

The best part about this XFX is it is totally smooth..No error's....Runs smooth as silk but then again a good HIS is probably the same...

I have never had a gray screen freeze with this card...(knock on my head) but I had to use the AB program to get over 40,000 in 3D05...

I would like to see some of Soups dual 5970's once he gets his second card back....
