Well I do not have a temp probe, but MSI is reporting the CPU at 30C under idle and IOH at 81C in the BIOS

I immediately finger tested, and the chipset is very warm (common on these boards I understand) so I propped a 80MM on the 4890 and stuck it into the hammer blowing straight down on the chipset cooler, and temps dropped ~7C immediately.

WinFLP installed in about 28 minutes (full install), Installing v64 now, and W732 RTM after that. Not going anywhere tonight till drivers and tweaks are loaded. Then I will take another peak at the bios. Lots of new cuss words in there I am sure

Oh yah, I also picked up a toaster real cheap so I can swap my 1TB software/drivers hdd back and forth between my main rig and my new play rig

LOL WOW This ram is going to work out very well

Something I saw in the BIOS made me think this board had a memory limit on it. So I set all things to stock levels. upped fsb to 166 and multi to 21, restarted.

tooling around in windows installing some more stuff. Decide to run prime95 to see how she is doing temp wise.

instant crash, get into bios and my mem is running at 1997MHz :o 9-9-9-27 1T at 1.65v booted windows and ran (till stressed obviously)

I think I need to buy the other two kits on thursday

Dropping it back to 1660 though, was only trying to find some stock volt cpu limits. Man this is goign to be fun Even with a bottom of the barrel x58 board

(oh.. AMD fanboy speak following.... snappiness is definitely not there compared to my AMD setup. Although must say at almost 3.5GHz, and DDR3 1997 cas 9 it was definitly a much better desktop experience then stock yeah!)

Okay. running some blend. mid 60s at 3.5 GHz 1.225 vcore w/ HT

Definitely going to need to get some advanced cooling soon. AC season is over unfortunately. But only a couple months until "AAC" season begins (arctic air cooling). (well 30-40F air cooling :p)
