Dumb question of the day
If I have a saved image (I do) for my gamer with a 150gb raptor in it, can I use the same image to setup the computer with an SSD in place of the raptor?
|
i wouldn't see why not, i've done it to my rig
|
Yes.
You will want to setup the boad the exact same way. (IE... AHCI/RAID/IDE) as you did wit hthe raptor. Which should have been in RAID or AHCI anyway :) Either works just fine. |
cool :)
thanks! but.. I think my raptor is setup in IDE, don't know why... it was a long long time ago that I first set it up ... oh well okay, changed it to ACHI, jumped through some small hoops, now making a new image :D |
MINOR PROBLEM
by restoring the image I formatted my 250GB SSD to be exactly the same size as my old 150GB raptor :wtfsign:
Thank god I remembered some of what I had read for my A+ before I reformated the drive and started over  Now everything is all better :D |
LOL what software are you using to do your images? Doesn't it have "fit target" option?
But its easy to extend it in windows V/7, just go into disk management click extend and your done :) |
Quote:
Used Disk Management to extend the partition but literally had the win7 install disk in and loaded and all set to reformat the drive when I remembered I could extend it  phwew, a close one :Dizzy: |
LOL. I never tried win7 imager, I grabbed IFD when Kal got that discount for us way back when.
