WOW!!!!
Good luck with your new toys Kal-EL :)

Kal-EL 12-12-2009 02:42 AM

Thx sofos......

Not to bore anyone but I gotta re-image my 6-OS boot partitions to have a clean go at it. Should take about 10 more minutes or so using Terabyte Unlimited's Image for Dos. I have the entire thing on a spare sata drive and its imaging byte for byte each of the six os paritions that each have all benchmark apps installed, fully updated, activated and without video drivers so I can easily switch between different cards. If you're interested in this software, follow the link on the sidebar to the left.

http://www.overclockaholics.com/Kal/5970/5970%20006.jpg

My bad, it took a lil longer than 10 minutes to image a 6 boot loaded, 6 paritions fully loaded with all benchmark applications installed on each os. Best look for another back-up software cuz this one is getting too slow :Dizzy:

Onwards to ATI HIS driver installation in Win7 or does anyone suggest Vista play?

Kal-EL 12-12-2009 02:54 AM

Ooops, looks like I goofeded
The i7 920 is in the socket rather than the 3570 :scared: Oh well, we'll work out my blck suck :D

DrNip 12-12-2009 03:00 AM

That's what I am talking about.

You have a longer bridge so you don't have to run them so close?

No I don't have them long bridges but I believe its x16 x16 in this config, not sure about the E762 tho (anybody know off hand?)

Assassin48 12-12-2009 03:03 AM

It should be since that was the selling point of the 4way Classy right ?

pretty sure

DrNip 12-12-2009 03:04 AM

I wouldn't run them that close unless I had 4 GPU's I was cramming together. I was thinking slots 1 and 3 were 16x and 16x. At least mine says slot 3 is 16x/8x which I take it is 16x but 8x if you are running tri GPU's. I was just worried about unnecessary heat issues.

Kal-EL 12-12-2009 03:07 AM

Only PCIe Slots 1,3,5,7 appear to be 16x on the E762.

DrNip 12-12-2009 03:10 AM

Yeah every other one which is odd # slots. Same goes for the 759, 1 and 3. Either way though you don't have a longer bridge. Might look into getting one.

Edit: Here is one on ebay and ships it your way free.

First run on Vantage froze, troubleshooting now.

DrNip 12-12-2009 03:31 AM

Fan speeds at default or cranked up? I read some posts of people not being able to run Vantage without the fan speed at least at 50% due to heat issues.

I'm running 100% out the gate and won't look back :good: (I pinched up the vtt on teh cpu as it was at the border @ 1.2v vs 1.65vdimm)

It's running now :D

Assassin48 12-12-2009 03:43 AM

Ill be waiting for the scores!

You running stock clocks on those 5970s ?

Kal-EL 12-12-2009 03:50 AM

Yessir, stock clocks for now.

Looking up my old GTX285 4-way Classified runs at stock for comparison= 27757 http://www.overclockaholics.com/Kal/...7757_64bit.JPG
SysMem needs to be bumped up on the current 5970 runs but its comparible.

SWEET!!!!!!!!!! I broke down and grabbed one of the HIS5970's...
I also like to separate the cards and can with slot 1 and 3..I purchased and extended bridge from ebay for the 4870x2's and I think they are the same bridge for the 5870 and 5970....
I read somewhere that the 5970's really need the separation....I am modding my cube now for the arrival of the first HIS...2nd to come as soon as i can grab it....

Good to hear buddy, we can go head to head with them :D

Anyone know how to permanantly disable the feature tests in Vantage?
(re-running with better mem speeds/timings to compare to that GTXclassified run)

DrNip 12-12-2009 04:13 AM

No. I always have to manually turn them off.

Kal-EL 12-12-2009 04:15 AM

Well, its a nice bump just tightening up mem and increasing speed:

Chit!!!!! 28,000 @ 3.3....You are really going to make some noise when you crank this up a bit....ATI loves the 06 and 03 stuff..You will soon make your mark!!!!!!!!!!!!:clapping:

DrNip 12-12-2009 04:27 AM

Oh yeah, that's where you'll see the most difference by raising your BCLK.

I raised the dram ratio to 1600 and the cpu and gpu scores liked it.

Kal-EL 12-12-2009 05:19 AM

Vantage is having problems in Win732bit, freezes or driver crashes. Managed to squeek out 1 run:

Sweet jeebus!

Nice runs so far.. cant wait to see them with a good CPU score ;)

Kal-EL 12-12-2009 06:02 AM

Looks like the driver in win7x64 is totally borked. I heard a soft pop when tryin to run 3D03 :Dizzy:

win732bit is running o.k. tho. Gonna re-grab the ati drivers.

DrNip 12-12-2009 06:14 AM

That's just plain crazy if you ask me that you are having probs running Vantage at stock speeds. What do you think, shitty drivers? Also I was looking and noticed beta in the name in your 1st post. What's that about? Has me confused.

Maybe a shitty card? can't get video in either 32 bit or 64 bit now. Also getting blue screens

DrNip 12-12-2009 06:16 AM

Shit. Better pull one out and then test both separately. What driver you using?

Kal-EL 12-12-2009 08:14 AM

Cat v.8663.1_Beta5_Hemlock_Win7_Nov11 for 7x64
Maybe this 920 is cursed?

Well its all fubarred up. Had to use AFterburner to up the fan speeds with the latest non-beta ATI drivers. Still freezes when tryin to run Vantage. I'm gonna take a break from it, re-image the partition and start fresh again.

Some interesting information...............

I re-imaged the partitions and staretd from scratch. Installed "Display" drivers only from the ATI recommended beta 5 for win7. Then i installed latest MSI Afterburner.

Out of the box, afterburner doesn't let you control fan speeds here. So I went into user defined fan profiles and jacked it up. This resulted in card#1 ramping up fan speeds while card#2 did not change. Heres the interesting part....... When i set msi AB to osd for gpu temps 1,2,3, and 4, suddenly card#2 fan speed jumped to 100% and now they are both running at 100% and temps are dropping. However, Vantage still locks up on the loading screen for Graphic#1 test.
Very well, carry on :cool2:

Damn it all to hell. Can't run any 3d benches at all. Gonna try Vista now.

Blue screen while tryin to install ATI drivers in Vista :Dizzy:

Kal-EL 12-12-2009 08:45 AM

I can say with a high degree of confidence that ATI DRIVERS SUCK, lol. :rofl

Well, I switched to xp32bit because no 3d app would run in win 7 or vista. I also pulled the second card. Card #1 almost burned my finger off so heat is definitely a major issue with the cards up against each other.

Ran just card#1 and the Good news is that vista/win7 is borked. Bad news is that nothing's wrong with card#1 and it runs 3dmark06 fine in winxp32.

I'll continue this adventure summorez. :D

Neuromancer 12-12-2009 08:50 AM

Did you set ioh/ich i/o voltage to 1.6-1.625?

That is the range I used on a SINGLE 4890 OCed to 1080/1200

I would not try going too high with it, but might even need a little more for 4 GPUs.

For drivers, look at the bot and see which drivers they are using, the latest are not always the best, even for new cards.

Kal-EL 12-12-2009 08:57 AM

Yah, I'll continue the fact finding mission as needed, its not like its just supposed to work jah know ;)

btw, all clocks are stock on gpu.

Wow reminds me of getting the 4870x2's when they first come out. Nothing but driver issues. Once the drivers mature I am sure you will be tearing up the benches.
I know on my R2E and Classified for 2 x 2GPU cards I need to run IOH Vcore around 1.375 to 1.4 and IOH/ICH around 1.55 to 1.75. Anything less and it will fail tests as soon as I put a small OC on the system.
