That's what I was thinking. But if you modified one of these to fit on the side of a case you could go completely silent/passive?

passive....not possible the cpu heat...pump heat would just accumulate.. there are super silent fans nowadays...40cfm should be fine and super quiet...

yes but there is ambients and natural breeze working through the rad. I bet you could pull it off with a performance hit ofcourse

not 90s just 50-75 (intel cpu thermal protect will shut down cpu)....once i forgot to switch the fans on..and the tubes were around 65c....good thing i had my clamps...the cpu was reporting 110C...lmao...the dual pumps were 30w each...total volume of water was less than 1Liter..cpu was stock and prolly throttling to 20w already..so 50w of total heat...and 1L of water..the rads does expose the water to cooler air but water heat capacity isn't saturated until it vaporizes...but then again pressure build up will go about bursting the weak seals...just my thoughts...

I've seen more than one case where if the radiator's surface area is big enough and the ambients are low enough that there is absolutely no need for a fan simply because of the airflowing between the fins at a normal amount. Fans usually help, but with this kind of a radiator you'd only be cooling a few hundred watts of power which translates to only so many newtons of energy as opposed to something like a car engine which does need a lot of airflow to keep an engine cool. Lets also not forget Zalman's completely fanless passive watercooling solution.
