Default DX11 support shows up for LucidLogix Hydra

Quote:
We told you about the MSI Big Bang Fuzion and how it worked at CES this year. We even followed up with a tidbit of information about LucidLogix demo at GDC this year. However one of the things that we have not touched on is DX11 support. When we last looked at Hydra we saw there were some issues with rendering DX10 textures and lighting, especially visible in 3DMark 2006 and 3DMarkVantage. So you can imagine that we were shocked to hear that Lucid is claiming full DX11 support with their latest drivers.

Great! I wonder if it is going to be a monolithic chipset Die that requires 200W of power and a TRUE revC to keep it cool LOL

(Little joke there, Hydra is another product that was supposed ready to be launched 6 months ago)

If those chips scale sli/xfire like they say they will it would be epic. I really have my doubts though. Plus I have yet to see a MSI board that can bclk like an evga or giga board. Pairing the lucid chip with a good high bclk'n board might have some real potential in the multi gpu area... That is, provided the new Lucid chip is worth its salt.

Well, Lucid claim 6w of draw on a 65nm process so it's not going to be hot.

I'm a bit skeptical, but as Kal-san says 'the more the merrier'.

Rev.. it was a joke!

I have been anticipating Hydra since it was supposed to be released last year. (about the same time Fermi was going to be launched. I thought maybe you guys new that and would get the joke).

Just meant to be funny not insulting.

Didn't really get the joke to be honest but there wasn't anything insulting about it. Like I said, I remain skeptical which is a nice way for me to say....I don't care lol. Give me one fast assed card that can do everything I need without adding more technology to stumble over on my way to getting boints

This would have been awesome in the X38/x48 hay days, now....what's the real point of it?

Yeah its not a great thing for HW flippers like me (that sell one thing to upgrade) but for guys that have a 4800 series card still and want a fermi say... now they can get the fermi and just "Hydra" it to their 4800 series and see a massive performance boost.

Going to screw up the BOT for sure though.
