On air, the new 990x boots into Windows at 4.8 Ghz with 1.375vcore with a mild QPI bump and ram at 1.65v, but takes 1.49v to boot at 5 Ghz.

No idea if that's good because I've never tried one on air before.......

Interesting Patch, are you gonna be doing much testing on air or you headed for frostland soon?

I bet its a temperature scaler.

Yuck time to start binning 990's :X Total CPU bottleneck in game tests GT1 and GT2 at 190x33 then 184x33 for CPU and GT3 GT4 (kept freezing in GT3 and GT4 randomly at 190x33) I really dont like 06 lol I will stick to the others for now. Going to Try sandybridge SLI in 03 tonight

Splavezoner, you'll be binning for a looooong time to get a 6.2 ghz+ 3D06 CPU test chip. Since you can't go back up to 190X33 for GT3 or GT4, are you staying at 184X33 for convenience after the CPU tests? Should still be able to bump up base clock at least a little for the last 2 graphics.

@Kal: Hope it scales with temps and voltage.....
Gonna dink around on air for a while and try to figure out why my efficiency sucks hairy ones in everything lately.

Patch the new strategy seems to be not using HT in order run games test higher. IE 6.5ghz whole test. The cpu is not strong enough to climb back to 190 for the last 2 test. Tried it twice and failed both times. Left it at 184 and passes no issues.

I think patch was suggesting trying 186 or something similar for the last 2, get a bit more cpu speed back.
