Thats the fun of competitions, completely unknown outcomes I see live comps as a fun sidenote to competitive benching. Since the skills of the overclockers are emphasized less and the luck of who gets the best chip is what takes a comp.

Great job to everyone involved! Were there any prizes? Did anyone get to take home a shiney new RIIIE?

asus did an excellent job with the r3e.

So for now the boards to have is Giga's UD9 and Asus RIIIE, I wonder is eVga is planning their 980x board or not in their plans...

i'm not sure what the difference is...between the top3 boards at the moment. but based on observation and some key notes.

so.. if you're pushing 1.8v-2v....even if your vregs are rated 600w(ie classified series x58 & p55)

thats pushing 300A @ 2V max....

lets say 2v with 12 threads...wprime @ 7ghz... vregs are ok...but what about the quality of the voltage supply?

the quality of the (vreg)power is very significant especially at very high frequencies...

when Francois( intel ) mentioned some notes bout coldbugs....."hi -k" ......
current and cold are the major differentiators in clocking....and intel's cpu quality.

please read http://www.intel.com/technology/silicon/high-k.htm

r3e is using the best capacitors i've seen on any x58 mobo.....

so its really worth considering...

It was fun to watch you guys tearing it up. Made me go fill up the dewars today.

That's a nice haul of loot. Full of stuff people actually want.

Inspiring work. Soldering iron is heating up right now and I see a few pirate flags on the horizon.....

IDK WTF is up with all the harsh shit flying around but I'm gonna remind our guys that no matter the situation, right or wrong, we'll keep the class act up around here and elsewhere. Bridges are burning that don't need to be burnt.

Just so there's no mis-understanding, consider these words to have the weight of an elephant.

Just wanted to say congrats to all three of you guys. You did well. I watched for a good majority of both days.
On a side note: Splavious Maximus, you're freakin' huge dude, and you bench like a machine. When I grow up I wanna be just like you.
