Default A QUESTION

I just searched the egg for "FRIO" just out of curiosity on what my perception would be in comparing it to the new Swiftech cooler. Perception created by taking in visual information of each and performing airflow and thermodynamic transfer calculations in my mind

Noticed for the first time there are two Frios, one with the white 120mm fans and one with blue 130mm fans.

My analysis indicates that the original Frio and the Swiftech would perform roughly on par, but the new Frio did not create the same thermodynamic capaility due to it's inline heat pipe configuration. The blue Frio is therefore relying more on the transfer capabilities of the fins rather than exposing all the pipes to the Delta of the jetstream of the two fans

Aside from all the BS above, why did they change the nice staggered heatpipe config for the old inline heatpipe config?

The inline heatpipe configuration was found to work best for the design.

That's interesting because it would seem intuitively that the more air blown on the pipes the better the cooling Glad I didn't buy one of those other spread out ones - tks for the feedback

The Frio OCK is one of the top performing Air coolers at this time. We tried to keep the size somewhat manageable while still offering excellent performance which of course meant higher speed fans as well.

but to handle the heatload the OCK can handle you kind of have to expect some noise, or gain a few degrees on loaded temps and you can crank the fans down significantly.... its kinda a trade off

if you win one of the top 3 spots in the present running contest you can win a frio to play with

I used to use 2 delta very high speed fans on my Noctua years ago when air cooling was all I had, so noise isn't an issue for me Not looking too promising for me at this point, but, never can tell .. lol

Thanks
