Got my new 980x today.

The egg sent me a new OEM chip (no heatsink..). Same exact batch as the one I RMA'd.

3003B242

At least it is a new one, because there isn't a hint of dielectric grease in the nooks and crannies.

Mixed feelings about performance, but overall kinda scared. It doesn't like a lot of voltage, but does better at lower volts than the last chip. The IMC seems better than the last chip. But with brief testing it's giving me kind of a wall at only 5.1 GHz on SS. Could probably blast past it, but a voltage jump from 1.45 to 1.55v doesn't really get me anywhere and I'm gonna take my time.

Sure hope it scales with cold.....

Crappy score, but I wanted a chance to use OC's calculator.

I finally got my 980x under LN2 and had my first LN2 session tonight. Come to find out this chip is totally amazing to me. CBB-115 and CB-155. So i know it can do better than i have done tonight. Especially since i'm a noob at LN2, But it was totally so fucking exciting. So check out the wprime 32 run and the pifast run i've posted in my space on page 1.

BTW i just couldnt resist posting them at the bot. I really needed something like this. Its late, i'm tired and i have to get to bed so i can go to work and buy more stuff!!!

phwew!

Just read threw the whole thread again My poor GT has been sitting at room temp for the past week The 762 arrived yesterday in a crushed box and is on it's way back to the egg.

good to learn the board made a difference but now I gotta decide if i want another sent, or, do the unthinkable and get an R3E

What a PITA when I got a full dewar in the closet

Looking today and it appears that the R3E does NOT come with either the hex monitor OR the old reliable ROG Poster. Not sure I can live w/o visible boot up data... could be the R3E killer for me

Hey maadd, it has bootup LED's on the side. 4 different ones so you know where you are hanging on boot and they are labelled. Also with ROG connect you it will show your boot cycle on your laptop in words lol no more codes ftw.

So whats thae Batch on these to have? Or are they just hit or miss?

I looked at XS's spread an they dont have to many. Going by the LN2 Vantage category
A957 5859.7 Vantage
B396 5821.5 Vantage
B187 5713.9 Vantage

Those are the highest they have in the GT Batch thread. Do any of u guys got a differant batch at those clocks?
