Hmm... terribly efficiency though. I except someone to come along and beat that soon.

7970 is right there are 1690 MHz (280 points lower score), so if 680 is more efficient than 7970 it should be nabbing first place with only 1500-1550 MHz.

It is, only because of the tesselation options in CCC. The 7970 scores with tess modified are not HOF eligible, unlike the 680 results.

I wouldn't sweat the efficiency, you know he's probably got backups that are more in line with the clocks.
