I just gleaned it... but since 5800s and Fermi are coming from the same plant, Charlie makes a lot of sense. Yeah it makes a point with a sledgehamer instead of a sentence and may use the most extreem examples... (IE that 2% thing... I bet you my dewar that was accurate... for one wafer not the whole run... )

70% idle fan, because it cant run low voltage... isnt ATi having those issues as well? Can't do their lowest p-state without crashing? Not saying ati needs 70% fan speed (its 1/3rd the size isnt it?) Also from what I have read about the TSMC process. ATi spent a lot of time working on the thermal issues, and has a huge leg up over nVidia in that area.

Meh, wish I had more time to read everything. Seriously if 480s are in consumers hands (evn i nthe supply that 5870s were) by the end of MArch I will eat my hat. and by eat my hat, I mean drink a beer and pour out a shot "for the homies"

It's great toget excited, but just like Cypress... the pre-release documentation does not equal the release product. If nVidia made drastic changes like they are talking, it might not actually be a great bointing card. The test out today are because the cards today are the same as the cards when 3d01 came out.. just more powerful...

Well we will see. Fx
