I'm betting another team is busy with the same hardware and going after boints. It's one of those things that's bound to happen sooner or later. True, you cannot become complacent and expect to stay at the top or anywhere near it.
After all, there's nowhere to go but down once you're there.

Was having trouble hitting some clocks on my 4890. So I removed the heatsinks tried some stuff out and threw the stocker back on, after doing a little thermal management.

I screwed up I guess, started hitting 100C on the VRMs. Tried re-seating the heatsink again to no avail :(

got upset, thought about selling the last worthwhile thing I have to get a 3rd party cooler. Talked to Kal... did one more re-seating of the heatsink... AND now am running higher AND cooler than before!!!

Still not going to be boint worthy... (no LN2 on an e8600) but placing in the top 100 is good enough for me

congrats! reference cooler 4890? washer mod is good for 2-3c as well

EAH4890 HTDI yah. Standard squirell blower.

A little lower ambient air is helping it even more. VDDCs are loaded at 51C at 1.45v

I am working the clocks right now on 3d03. closing in on 79k now Setting all kinds of personal bests tonight 03,05,06 and Vantage and I have not even pushed the edge of 06 or Vantage yet. Not much bointing but that's okay. Having more fun 3d benching tonight then I can recall having in a while (had a few minutes of joy the other night, then it all went south). I just look for someone a few spots a head of me and clock and clock until I get them. Then find the next spot I want to take
