Default Netbooks?

I have been thinking about getting one. I have a laptop but i really wanted something smaller for my bench area. does anyone have a suggestion based on experience? I like the one i've linked below. But, windows starter edition? Whats in that or not in that? I really wanted one without an OS on it but that dosn't seem likely.

Don't know much about them.... but my friend got one and it is tiny

he got the ACER flavor w/XP

Bitch to type on .... and not the fastest thing around .... = DOG

Not for everyone that is for sure, I have to beleive it's preformance would leave you a bit flat ...

This would be a smaller solution with a bit of preformace once you clean off the icluded bloatware and would be easier to type on .....

I got the EEE 1000HE and I love it. I mean its not anything crazy on performance (which pisses me off once in a while) but it does the job pretty good when on the road. Now Intel is getting ready to release the new ATOM 5** series for Netbooks which are dual cores so if I would wait for that.

+1 on the waiting. I cant get past the tiny kb on the netbooks. I prefer smaller laptops, like my 14" Toshiba... perfect size for the bench area, and has all the useless crap I wanted in it...

I bought a Mini 10 for the wife and run ubuntu Lucid Lynx on it and it honestly does everything you'd need from a netbook. Whatever you go for Duke, slap Ubuntu on it.

Awhile ago I did a trade and ended up with a HP-Mini 110-1025DX

I actually like this little machine. It is hard for me to use the keyboard and tracking pad as its so tiny. But it has Win XP and some other goodies on it. Speed is just fine for what it does, tho the screen is small so you end up having to scroll around a bit.

Now its not something I would use everyday as I have a full size laptop that is used by other family memeber and when I am away.

Its not something I would want to load up with apps, but mainly just for checking a few websites and email when I am away.

I looked at adding more RAM, thats to costly. Even trying to put Win 7 on it is a problem as it has no DVD drive, I would have to pickup a USB DVD drive for it. Plus when doing that I would lose all of its restore features.

Its a good little machine for anyone that has a use for something like this, but will never replace my laptop. Might be good for when driving around and needing to pull over and check on something, but I have a iPhone for that with no need to find a wireless connection.

Other than that I do not use it LOL
