Actually, "freeze Branding", is more commonly used on horses, rather than cattle.
Before buying this machine shop, I farmed and ranched for 15 yrs. in southern Saskatchewan. ( I'd love to here all you Americans pronounce that. )
Anyway, we always branded in the traditional fashion of roping the calves and dragging them to the branding fire on horseback, where we would use a hot iron to apply the brand. Just like the old western movies.
