i don't think its marketting....
based on my 285 experience it needed heavy power...the gtx480 is almost 100% power hungry...
imagine clocking a 480gtx without added power...you'll definitely be limited...ouch
for now i'll wait for asus gtx 480 matrix.....or an msi version....bwahhahahah
