[Team.AU] Corsair Dominators 2000GT C7 retail kit + EVGA Classified = magic

Hey fellas

I seem to be in this perpetual "testing" mode but i tell you what, I love it. Getting the end results is nice and all but getting to it is even more fun.
Always great to talk(&pick his brains) to my mate youngpro during these sessions  who is about to unleash a storm from downunder so watch out for that.
Good to always catch up with the usual suspects during benching you know who you are :p::D

So in my preparation i've battling with the following components in intial stages :)

Test Configuration:
  • EVGA CLASSIFIED E760 (S610 bios)
  • Intel Core i7
  • 6GB 2000GT Corsair Dominators CAS7 DDR3 > Week 22, 2009
  • Asus 4870X2 Graphics Cards
  • 1000W HX1000 Corsair PSU
  • 1hp C-BuZz Single Stage (kayl evap)
  • 160GB IDE Hard Drive
  • Windows XP Pro 32bit SP3

http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/7025/logoexi.gif
excuse my non-fancy photochop skillz :p:

The purpose of all this testing i guess it to be able to at least get a rough idea what sort of settings i will have a chance to try on LN2 before i start going cold.
I like to pretest on SS to not waste LN2 i guess and i get to concentrate on what i'm doing a lot better than having to pour LN2 all the time.
Wasting money also makes no sense heheh :p:

My first concern was 2:10 RAM ratio. This ratio sucks on my Gigabyte X58-UD5.
I just couldn't get any decent clocks out of RAM past 1GHz with this ratio.
Why this ratio? Well i'm working with 25xmulti so i've got a couple of options here, to go to 2:8 CAS6 which is fine or 2:10 CAS7 which is better as i can max out the RAM as well at top clocks.
There is always the 23x multi as well which i will explore but i'll be battling BCLK here so why not start with easier setup first heheh

I'm hoping to be able to stabilise 32M SuperPi at 5.5GHz so I'll need to be able to run 220MHz bus stable right

OK so lets start there

220MHz bus stable with CAS7 2:10 RAM ratio running at 1100MHz 7-8-7-21-1T

Always start with the good old 32M SuperPi :D

http://img32.imageshack.us/img32/110...t32msuperp.png

What about 3DMARK01 >> some of the tests in 01 can be pretty taxing on system itself
can it handle , cars, lobbies, dragos >> YES IT CAN
(starting to sound like Obama :D)

http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/853...t3dmark01f.png

what about 3DMARK06
no dramas :D sorry i'm just laughing at myself now

http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/4...t3dmark06f.png

If i needed say 5GHz + NB speed
can it handle that
hell yeah :D
http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/5...mhzram32ms.png

Let's bump it up (for insurance puporses only) hehehe
224.4MHz bus stable with CAS7 2:10 RAM ratio running at 1122MHz 7-8-7-21-1T

hmmm 224.4 * 25 = 5610mhz grrrrrrrrrr fingers crossed hehehe

32M SuperPi = Done

http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/7...t32msuperp.png

AM3 can sometimes be a biatch with RAM going too hard
not here :)

http://img32.imageshack.us/img32/117...787211tam3.png

3DMARK06 ... looks good :D

http://img149.imageshack.us/img149/7...t3dmark06g.png

will it do 1132MHz 7-8-7-21-1T.........hell yeah but now i'm just getting greedy . i dont want to push more cause i'd be devastated if these modules died

This is all nice and dandy at -50C. Now i have to repeat this at -130C with 25x multi heheheh :D

Anyways i've still got plenty more testing ("fun") to do so i'll pop in if any updates occur

If you'd like to try my settings i've got the bios template attached
Let me know if it works for ya or if you have any suggestions i'm all ears :)

Very nice mate! I'll have a look at my Classified next week so this will for sure help! I have done some testing on air so its time for LN2! Thanks for posting this!

Good luck with the oc there Dino....are the GT's you have now still Elpida based?
If so, mine will happily run a tRFC of 59 or lower at those clocks, might help a bit to get your refresh rate up.

Very nice dinoBro. Amazing ddr3 improvements these days. :good:

hi mate

yeah usually at lower clocks you can get them running down to 56 maybe even 54 but from what i've been told by some TRFC might need a bump. i guess this will vary from set to set

what would the refresh rate do and which RR do you suggest

i havent really touched RR since wolfdale and even that wasnt really making a heck of a lot of difference but i am definitely interested :)

i am actually hitting a strong bus wall at around 228 with these settings
my bclk can go to 235/240 but this is what i am experiencing with these particualr settings no matter if i boot at 204 or 220
refuses to boot at 225

Very nice write-up dinos. Funny too :p If you can pull off 220*25 you will own :D Now is that cpu the 960 coming out, a 965 that cpuz is reporting wrong, or ES 965 that it has all wrong?

DrNip 07-18-2009 07:49 AM

Your an animal dino!

sofos1990 07-18-2009 08:01 AM

wow dinos....your kit is really good, hope it won't die soon.
Now go for ddr3 WR :D lol

Buckeye 07-18-2009 08:11 AM

Sweet job Dinos !

I miss my Classified after moving off to AMD stuff, the BIOS is so much nicer on Classy.

Chuchnit 07-18-2009 08:14 AM

BTW Bill, any preview on where you've gotten so far? 6ghz?
