Kid's rig upgrade
5 Attachment(s)
My 11 year old has been getting into 3D animation graphics (3DS Max).
 You guys know what that means...... Old Rig: i5 655K Maximus III Formula 2X2 GB DDR3-1600 32 bit Windows 8.1 (don't ask) Radeon HD 7950 500 GB WD Black platter 750W PCP&C Silencer (old school workhorse) New Rig: i7 4790K ASUS Z97-A-USB31 2X8 GB DDR3-1866 64 bit Win 7 Radeon HD 7950 500 GB Crucial BX100 SSD 750W PCP&C Silencer Considering its use, I'll only target a modest overclock. For some reason, the kid's more interested in actually using computers for their intended purpose than he is in building them to be fast. Weird. http://overclockaholics.com/forums/a...1&d=1435539965 http://overclockaholics.com/forums/a...1&d=1435539965 http://overclockaholics.com/forums/a...1&d=1435539965 http://overclockaholics.com/forums/a...1&d=1435539965 http://overclockaholics.com/forums/a...1&d=1435539975 |
The good ole desk rig. Awesome! I'm sure that build will be good for years to come.

11 years old, the future looks bright for the young render-er.
He'll be done with 3D homework assignments a full week ahead of his class cuz daddy's pourin nitro all over his rig, lol. Btw, good luck keeping yourself from overtinkering his rig, I just couldn't help it on my son's setup :) but now he's running 24/7 5ghz goodness. |

Seems like that with cars, bikes or what ever, it is it needs to be fast My kids could care or less , went shopping for a car with my son the other day, he said he was looking for reliable transportation with decent gas mileage :ohcrap: All I was worried about when i was a kid was how fast it was and how would it aid in getting laid ??? Not sure what these schools are teaching kids today ? All I know is I can't help him with his math homework any more :Dizzy: |
