Asus Swift PG278Q Gaming Monitor & NTFS BSOD
Ehlo peepohz,
So I installed the Swift onto my system and been playing with it the last few days. I have to say gaming at 144mhz is a whole new world :good: G-sync felt funky so I have it disabled. Seemed like input would carry a sort of momentum in-game. E.g. continuing to move to the left after input key was released. HERE is the issue I've run into. I'm getting NTFS bsod's whenever gaming at 144mhz. On subsequent restart one of my disks in my Raid 0 array has failed. Power down completely and disk returns and all is well. I can game at 60mhz and 120mhz without bsod. Anyone hear/know of any possible explanation or culprits? I'm leaning towards some voltage out of spec or simply that one disk is pooped out already. This raid system is quite ancient (prolly 2007ish) Specs: Motherboard: CPU Type QuadCore Intel Core i7-2600K, 4700 MHz (47 x 100) Motherboard Name Asus Maximus IV Extreme (1 PCI-E x1, 1 PCI-E x4, 4 PCI-E x16, 4 DDR3 DIMM, Audio, Dual Gigabit LAN) Motherboard Chipset Intel Cougar Point P67, Intel Sandy Bridge System Memory 8160 MB (DDR3-1600 DDR3 SDRAM) DIMM2: G Skill RipjawsX F3-12800CL9-4GBXL 4 GB DDR3-1600 DDR3 SDRAM (11-11-11-28 @ 800 MHz) (10-10-10-27 @ 761 MHz) (9-9-9-24 @ 685 MHz) (8-8-8-22 @ 609 MHz) (7-7-7-19 @ 533 MHz) (6-6-6-16 @ 457 MHz) DIMM4: G Skill RipjawsX F3-12800CL9-4GBXL 4 GB DDR3-1600 DDR3 SDRAM (11-11-11-28 @ 800 MHz) (10-10-10-27 @ 761 MHz) (9-9-9-24 @ 685 MHz) (8-8-8-22 @ 609 MHz) (7-7-7-19 @ 533 MHz) (6-6-6-16 @ 457 MHz) BIOS Type AMI (04/12/2013) Display: Video Adapter NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 (4 GB) Video Adapter NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 (4 GB) 3D Accelerator nVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 Monitor Asus ROG PG278Q [27" LCD] Storage: Storage Controller ARECA 1220(X86-64-STORPORT) SATA RAID Host Adapter (RAID6-ENGINE Inside) 400mhz single core Disk Drive Areca Kal-EL RAID#0 SCSI Disk Device (838 GB) 6x150 WD RAPTOR Voltage Values: CPU Core 1.480 V +3.3 V 3.312 V +5 V 4.960 V +12 V 12.096 V +5 V Standby 5.164 V CPU PLL 1.786 V VCCIO 1.058 V VCCSA 0.966 V PCH Core 1.091 V PCH PLL 1.058 V PCI-E Bridge 1.197 V DIMM 1.640 V GPU1: GPU Core 0.987 V GPU1: GPU +12V 12.000 V GPU1: GPU VRM 0.984 V GPU2: GPU Core 0.987 V GPU2: GPU +12V 12.000 V GPU2: GPU VRM 0.984 V UPDATE: Single HDD in raid POOPED itself |
That is a bummer bro,
Thinking the same, one of the drives is giving up the ghost This day and age all one really need is one of these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820147361 |
Raid 0 recovery failed drive areca

So, while I'm no storage expert by far, I do tinker a bit.
Options: 1) figure out to do a hot spare swap on the offending drive- Eh! 2) remove offending drive from areca raid card then clone using software like IFD (image for dos). Replace fresh drive with cloned image. Eh! drive was beyond beyond by this point. 3) Restore saved backup image to new Raid array set created after replacing offending drive. Bingo! This only works if you immediately create an image of your array as soon as a drive starts acting wonky. That brings me back to life on this dated Areca/HDD Raid setup. :good: Not near ssd setups but its near original performance which works for me daily. 256mb length Attachment 7415 1gb length Attachment 7416 |
If I were you and there was a way, I'd give up the RAID setup. A single ssd would rock that RAID setup these days bud. Still, do you think this will solve the 144mhz issue you have?

Attachment 7417 Been putting a parts list together for a new gamer beast but I'm thinking I don't really NEED a beast machine for todays game. Still, drewl drewl drewl! Even the M2 is'nt really necessary but its shwweeet. I dunno, let u kno wut i settle with. :good: |
Just put one of those 850's I linked in a client build.
Rockin 500+ reads with no RAID Hassles I have a 941 M.2 in my garage mITX PC that on a PCIe2x rocks 700 + reads if you do go new set up get one with an ultra PCIe 4x and that that 941 will do over a 1000+ reads With a 128 MB Samsung 941 M.2 at 4x for the OS and some 850's for storage you will be blown away at the speed , possibly a huge spinner for Bone Yard duties |

FFS everything is so damned expensive at the edge of tech. lolololol
Attachment 7418 I want it to scream but ho ho ho I won't let go the dough. Gonnna keep shoppin. |
yea that would scream, for sure. I don't think that is nessacary though. I think your setup is fine for gaming. All you really need to do is update your storage.
I heard that BF Hardline is lame. True or not in your opinion? Witchie...no more BF4 bud?? |
been spending all my free time benching these days
Made it to 2nd in the US in the Extreme league. Can't hang with those factory guys in the pro league :ohcrap: I simply do not have the budget to bin 1K 5960x chips and top end GPU's Blew up my 780 Ti KPE last night .... Also wasted my 6 Ghz 4770K May have some time to jump on now LOL , you guys still on there ? Always have a lot of fun playing with you and Kal @ Kal, if you are looking at x99 take a peak at the x99 OC Formula by AsRock I have one and it will take you where ever you want to go bro Also I can get the chip for $ 955.00 at MC and send it to you http://www.microcenter.com/product/4...oxed_Processor http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231801 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813157534 = http://hwbot.org/submission/2645023_...ti_70627_marks |

Nah, I was talkin to Dukester in BF4, plus I got all itchy and upped the overclock on this 2600k to 4800mhz and its gaming nice, and I think I'm good here cept the upgrade to storage. Gonna try n push up to the original 5ghz clock I had when I first put it together, maybe the HDD was bad this whole time. I hope one of those manuf's drop you some lovin support soon buddy, you definitely deserve it. @Duke, I dunno, try downloading it and check out the upgrades to the interface. Theres also a EULA attached that says "NO JACKTARDS ALLOWED", lol, it requires no foul language and behavior as TOS, amongst other things. It does appear they've put a whole heckuvalot of effort into it tho. I haven't played enough to decide. Some cop buddies are droolin over it tho. |
