Broken video card in shipping
Not just broken but, PCB BENT.
Happened to me again today. Received a card (well packaged I thought, in an ESD bag and surrounded on all sides with airpak bags) the backplate was at a 45 degree angle and the whole PCB curved with it. I should have gotten some snaps off. For cards that do not have the full size cooler, but have a heavy cooler that does not touch the expansion plate. Make sure to tuck some stuff in there. In both cases, the products were shipped from Texas. (one UPS one USPS) both had a wierd heavy cooler in the center of the card, with no pressure on the back plate (first was a single slot nvidia 6 series I think and this one isa ASUS EAH6870 double slot) So maybe its not texas but hte number 6.. I dont know.. Just take extra care of your packaging if you ship from or to texas. (doubly so if the model number starts with 6) |
Very odd for it to bend but not break, almost smacks of some sorta heat exposure.

Heat is the only possibility, the package was not in tatters when I received it.
