5870 or 5970

What to get, the 5870 or 5970? This is the question that plagues me. I wouldn't mind getting the 5870 for now and then pick up one or two more on down the line. But then again I am very found of my 295 and can only imagine I would be of the 5970. Not to mention I would be crossfiring right out of the box for cheaper than two 5870's.

I would like to get your guys input on this.

I don't think you will do much with the 5870 compared to those 295 scores you have.

The 5970 is a different story but what will the rev3 have in store for them if your concerned with Bots...

I am of the same delima...The 5870 is a great card but it only counts if i can beat the 4870x2 top...I have beat it in 3 test and scored small...On the otherside of the coin I like to run fast so would run the 5970 even if Bots doesn't favor them...

I really want to try the 5890's..But When????
Then again, a guy with your talent would have alot of fun with a couple of 5870's..I did!!!

CF scaling will take some time to get straightened out, so from a usability stand point, go single GPU.

However the bencher in me says 5970!!!! Basically 2 5870s for the price of 1.5 :)

Well, maybe not 2x 5870s, dunno if anyone is hitting 1300 core speed on the 5970s

Yah, I dunno brudder, from a boint perspective I think its up in the air what they'll do with the dual gpu, single slot cards. But from a newness perspective, the 5970's seem to be doing some damage so far.

You could prolly bench um right quick and sell um off before you lose any money.

That is forsure..I just wanted to break even and the vapor-x, sold for 150.00 more than I paid after the ebay and paypal fee...I am guessing the UK is having troble getting there hands on any of these...If I would have used a 3 day auction no telling how high it would have went...

Don't really want to jack with flipping cards. Looking for some quick boints as well as gaming card/s for Crysis 2 coming up.

The more I think about it the more I am sure..I will get a 5970 soon ..I would prefer Asus. I have run with the dual GPU cards for awile and miss it..Also as far as gaming goes I have read great things about the 5970....I will need to do a little mod work on the drive bay brackets but I am committed now..... :happy1:

You could always get a 5870 now and wait for prices to drop a little on the 5970 then set up 3 way CFX on the 5970 and 5870.
