Yep. I remember when kingpin broke the 30k barrier or when 24k was a dream with your 8800 ultra's. I see 40k being broken soon.

It does seem like yesterday 30k was nuttin' but a dream for mere mortals.

What's sad is I hit 30k with a mild overclock on my 920 with my 4890's before I sent them back. Yet I was disappointed and didn't do anything with it not even submitted it at Futuremark. :(


I remember when 4ghz was a dream, then 5ghz was a dream.

I remember like it was yesterday, wanting to hit 32k. In fact I still wanna hit 32k, too bad I don't got any gpus to do it with. Ah well, Pentium 4 looks good 2 go and 28k on 8800ultras aint nuttin to sneeze at either.

IMO that price is absolutely crazy when a F1EE is $275 and the Venom should be around the same price if not cheaper...

Yeah, it definately looks cool, no question about that. But I'll take the functionality or a F1EE or Venom any day. Not to knock it too hard, I'm sure it's a great tube, just seems kind of expensive for the functionality it delivers.

Do not assume anything.

This far more than just a see through pot. There has been a great amount of design work that has been done with this pot and it is far more than just a few holes drilled in the base.

Vince is not selling his pot yet and it does have it's share of problems that go along with it.

If all you look at is just the price then you missed the point. Being on the top edge of new tech and involved in the process is what it is all about for me.

I also have a F1 and find it to be a great pot, but for extreme sub zero it also has its share of problems. Has anyone here ever run a F1 at -195c for any length of time ?

Run your F1 on a hot Core I7 at -130c and tell me what you think. You would find that it cannot hold the desired temp with out constant attention. Take it even colder and hotter cpu and you can pour non stop LN2 into the pot and find it hard to keep as close as possible to max temp.

AMD chips need max temps as long as possible for extreme benching. That requires a lot of volume of LN2 to burn off while the bench is being run. The new design concentrates the cooling effect right where it matters, at the base with its new design. Swing is not an issure, or has very small effect with this setup, you simply do not need a large mass of of copper to hold the cold.

Even with Vinces new pot Vemion the pot is not solid copper all the way to the top like the F1 is. If Vince were to make his pots out of the same material that this new pot is it would be a pot for people with very deep pockets.

I am not taking anything away from Vince, he makes very fine pots, I have 5 LOL ! But there is also other ways to do this, and perhaps they might just be better or at least be another tool for extreme cooling.

I look forward to testing this next weekend and be sure to watch for the write ups.

Oh I don't assume anything except that this pot is one bad mama-jama. I would do anything to have a see thru pot. Prolly would fork out $600 for one too. I was simply quoting the price which I think is feasible for this caliber of pot.

The base itself took several days to machine, from lathe work to mill work.

This is not a pot to be used with Core I7 either, it can be but it's really made to hold max LN2 temps that AMD chips require.

I'm sure it'll be a killer pot :thumbsup: looking forward to your impressions and to seeing it get every drop of performance out of the TWKR

ok...i am probably showing my age....but my first computer had the 5 1/4" floppy and my pc keyboard was so hightech that it fit onto the monitor front....i saw it on a commercial once about the first pc LOL:rofl

Couldn't have been the first PC. Before 5 1/4, data was stored on cassette tapes.

Yeah, DOS 3.1 was the ultimate. Used to program some in it and once mapped the "E" key on the secretary's computer to flash "I want to have sex with the operations manager" for about 1/10 of a second .... couldn't read it but I was hoping for some subliminal action LOL. Used a program called "DosKey", I ended up telling her cause she couldn't understand why the E key wouldn't work hahaha..

Anyone else remember the cheapest way to buy a 20 MB hard drive was to get a Hard Card that plugged into a slot on the mobo... and cost ONLY $400 ?? Which reminds me, I found some old computer tools in the garage when we cleaned up for the garage sale and thought about posting pics and seeing if anyone could guess what they were.... they were memory chip pullers LOLOL way back from the days before SIMMS, DIMMS, etc

Even better... the old teletype machines. Like a typewriter but it punched holes in a paper tape that was about an inch wide. If you had a long message the tape could end up being 5 or 6 feet or longer. You'd then feed it into a "reader" that would pull it through and send the represented letters over the phone line to another teletype machine. If the tape broke on you, you had to hurry up and try to get feed the second (or third) piece of tape into the reader at just the right time or it wouldn't work and you had to start all over again !!!! See all the fun you missed hahahaha

I can remember back when BASIC was being used and the TRS80's were the hot ticket. Did a graphics program in school that simply awed everyone since I figured out a way to make it draw a line with three instead of five lines of code. Ran much faster then the other programs submitted.

Gee - It's plain silly nowadays getting a machine to draw a simple, straight line faster....
