AMD 7K may get more milage than origionally thought. Reading this if true nV will be sending out mainstream parts at launch. Wonder if that will change now that AMD has shown it's hand with a part capable of taking the preformance crown. You have to wonder if AMD and nV has seen the the light, by offseting releases by roughly 6 months they could infact both relize huge volume and profits for each launch by edging each other out at each launch. This would in fact be playing global bointers like a fiddle I have come up with a new tee shirt idea for the entire HWBot league. Team shirts were so 2011 anyways ............ |
Not surprsing, after the issues with teh last die shrink from TSMC that they would push it out onger on paper to avoid any problems.
Should also mean that at launch its readily available and there will be less scalping by the etailers. |
I think WD is on to something. Like a rotating monopoly with each companies base fanboys so worked up they'll jump at launch they can each price their cards where ever they want to  Fanboy or not, the enthusiasts will buy each brand at each launch bringing in bundles of cash... almost illegal - would be illegal if you could find the email where nVidia and AMD agreed to a six month launch offset
|
It was on paper and shreaded long long ago in a land far away .......
|
the paper part perhaps, but it's soul will live forever in the cloud :D
|
I think most enthusiasts have caught on to their ploys. Fanboys will never.
|
Don't know bro, I'm a green guy for the most part, but if I had had the $$ in my pocket on 7970 launch day I'd probably own one or more right now. Being short of cash gave me time to chill and think about it :D

Reference cards always end up at the bottom of the list.
|
Mid-high end card in late March, high end in July.
That's my valuable info thus far ( can't share some other stuff :P ) Long time, no see fellas |
Sup BZ .......

If they are available in July I will be surprised.
|
By the availability or the performance of the flagship card ? :P

From what I have been reading 2Q ........ June 30th ........ LOL
If these depictions of preformance are true it could be the second coming of the GTX 8800 or for you older folks the 9700PRO .... upwards of 100% ..... Won't believe this until retail hits the streets ....... |

100% performance increase is dubious but not too far off considering the 7970 is about 50-60% better performance in games. nVidia SHOULD surpass that, so 75% to 100% is not out of the realm of possibility. the 7990 is due out in another couple of months too |
Single GPU for Games and HWbotting :P
A 8800GTX repeat might be in order, haven't seen any real performance figures myself, only got a few architectural info, but sometimes what looks very efficient and powerful in paper ends up slow in reality, not to get you guys excited, but hold your breath... for a second :P They'll do something silly, that's guaranteed, it's nVIDIA, but, the Single-GPU flagship will be worth it, just like the 580 did ( regardless of arriving late to the party ) |
Yeah for the bot the single GPU holds all the cards, but for the company to tout "Fastest graphics card in the world!!!111!one" I expect teh 7990 will hold that until nVidia releases a 790GTX.
BTW.. why are they skipping numbers again? 100, 300, 600? |
Marketing starting with a 6 would sound less than it's AMD counterpart ..............
j/king ...... I have no idea |
GTX-9001
"Its power level is over 9000" (albeit slightly) |

Why was six so mad at seven?
|
because kal ate 9?
|
Why is 77 better than 69?
|
Because 789. :)

GK104 aka the equivalent of the 560 Ti in the series
coming in March, ok availability ( hard launch ) [ better than the 7970 launch quantities, but not awesome like 8800GTX for example, that ship has sailed :P ] performance... synthetic benchmarks: ahead of the 7970 in 1 or 2 benchmarks ( specific "modes" ) gaming: between 7950 & 7970, very close to the 7970 in some games, around 10fps slower in the majority of games price... think 329$ or a tad less 256 bit BUS width 2GB standard VRAM stock clock around 800-850MHz ( maybe a bit higher, don't know how mass production is going ) TDP around 170 - 215W * [ not 100% sure on this ] GK110 ( aka 780, aka the GTX580 equivalent ) coming in May or June, in ok quantities [ hard launch ] clear winner against the 7970 F@H and scientific CUDA users gonna want this one because apart from being much faster than the GK104, it'll have some more features when it comes to computational usage some tidbits for you guys to keep to yourselves :) |
Think I'm gonna try and wait for the 780 :D
If I'm still employed that is  |
