Are these SICK or what

If I had the disposable cash, I'd pick up a pair of these just cause they look so damn sick :D

Not sure if 550's are worht the price of admision :keeporder:

Bones 12-02-2011 10:03 PM

The Zotac amp 550's I have seem OK. I have a pair for SLI and so far they've been good as in they've done all I've asked of them so far.
I do need a stronger card since I'm doing some folding now and although these aren't the best for that purpose they do rather well overall.

I'd say at least try it - We've all at some point blown up more expensive pieces anyway you know.

Bones, you're a doctor not a video card reviewer dammit

Don't have the cash to buy two and one would prolly be worthless. I'll play with what I got for the time being :D

You are right about me not being a GPU reviewer - Maybe someone guilty of OC'ing malpractice with one of these is more accurate. ;)

I'm in a similar boat ATM, wanting to get something that would work in my case and having to shop around before I commit to buying one. Doing the same too related to what I have and while these are not bad, just not quite enough for what I really want to do here.

Witchdoctor 12-03-2011 10:27 AM

I just grabbed a 6970 Lightning for $ 290.00 shipped

used of course, but that is cool as I intend to put some serious volts through it figuring it may not survive the ordeal, hopefully a medal contender ............

DOM is ugly!

ps. not getting it why is it sick? teh clock? :Dizzy:

MaadDaawg 12-05-2011 07:12 AM

No Kiki, it's sick because it has a 110 degree fever and the doctors are afraid it might not make it

I think it's sick for several reasons

1 - I LOVE the old art deco airplane propellor design
2 - looks like somthing that might have been on the nebacaneeser (no hints)
3 - It uses MSI's military specs for overclockability

Let us pray

kikicoco1334 12-05-2011 07:51 AM

ahh! I see what you are seeing

Seriously, it does look cool.
Definitely different in how it looks and probrably runs nice n cool OC'ed too.

On a sidenote, just picked up a MSI 560ti 448 core card. Not getting rid of my 550 Zotacs and still have a use for those but the MSI is more along the lines of what I need for now anyway.
I'm just hoping it's a good one.

Splave 12-08-2011 11:22 AM

they are nice cards
http://hwbot.org/submission/2226430_...448_7621_marks

that was at 1.148v max of crap AB, if they ever send me the unlocked one for this card I will forward you a link... I think highest temp it hit was 58c rofl

DOM 12-08-2011 11:33 AM

Can u ask for the 570pe/oc iii ? :)

Bones 12-17-2011 11:59 AM

Since I got the 560 I've had it more or less folding and scoring over 17K PPD with it.

Performance is a hair under what the 570's will do and temps are staying below 55c at all times even when OC'ed and fuly loaded (100% GPU useage) with a folding WU. I'm actually folding with it and browsing the web at the same time and it's still pulling over 17K PPD as I type this.
Great card and glad I got it.
