[Project] Water Hybrid
Hardware List Final
For as long as most of you guys have known me, I have never really had a fully functioning water rig, very recently Mr. OCM was kind enough to help me out with some water gears I should have a full rig up and running very soon. Waiting on USPS to drop off the package right now Here is some of my ideas... Back of my case http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...r/RealBack.png Because it is a tiny case both of the rads has to be mounted out side of the case. As up to now I am taking all suggestions on where should i mount the rads at I did this picture laying on the ground so kinda look a little funky http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1.../Backsetup.png As the picture showed above the one of the side will not open so the rads has to be mounted on the open sides. After looking at Mr.OCM's new post the mesh I have always been a huge fan see though side and was thinking about mesh the opening side and have the rad just hang on by the mesh not 100% how well will that hold up, I'd love to have some feed back on that. I will be running 2 rads, 1 pump a full rig with 1 CPU, 1 GPU, and Chipsets |
w00t!
|
dude for real! your post have inspired me very much
so thank you! |
I would mount one on the top and one off the reaer fan if it were me. Connecting a rad and lines to a removable section of the case is a clear mistake as far as I am concerned.
What Size rads are you using? tri on top for GPUs and a dual on the back would be good for CPU. Is this goig to be a gamer ??? as water pretty much blows for benching other than 1155. Jury is still out for 2011 if water will be as effective on this platform. I think you will have a lot fun building this .................. |
i whant to see pics of work in progress, no drawings...........

Kiki,
I tried top and bottom, it works but it makes you case longer and taller. make sure you have enuf clearance for it to cool correctly. I hung mine on the sides which worked out quite well. I used extra tubing outside so each side panel could be removed and swung completely out of the way. you could also use Koolance quick disconnects. where you gonna fit the pump(s) and resv(s) Can't wait to see your pics bro :D Here was the old "BattleStar" build http://img835.imageshack.us/img835/7...compeion96.jpg http://img33.imageshack.us/img33/432...moredback1.jpg |

I will be having 3 3x120mm rads, there will only be 2 used in this build, it is mainly for movies and some gaming, but more importantly it's going to be used as an office machine so it has to look professional as it can be (all the lights has on/off switch installed :D), that's why i went from my sexy looking Thermaltake Xaser VI to this Antec Sonata case.
I'd say this system is 75% work and school, 25% gaming since I have a 40in TV hooked up to it so there is some kind of movie play at all time. But there are times I can feel the computer just don't have enough power like when i am playing Black Ops and watching a 1080p based movie and it needs to be overclocked from 333FSB to 400/420 to have it run smoothly, but that extra 80 something mhz will heat up the system from already hot enough 60C on load to 80C i haven't had that temp since I dumped my Pentium 4 3.0E MD tbh that setup of yours got me the idea of doing it side by side I have OVERCLOCKAHOLICS written on top of the case and OCALLIANCE on the open side that's why i canceled my first idea about doing it on the top but that's no big deal i can always re do it OH and for Chiller...... My camera is broken cuz i took too many dirty pictures this summer now it's been in repair for 10 weeks now as soon as it comes back I'll be spaming this place with pictures For now I'll just use the iphone instead |
Picture update
Placing the rad on the upper side of the open side http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...er/highrad.jpg Placing the rad on the lower side of the open side http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...ter/lowrad.jpg http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...er/lowrad2.jpg As I was thinking, here is another idea http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...r/lowradin.jpg That way there is no tubing will be showing out side of the computer. |

Putting it on a removable door = FAIL
How will you access tah hardware  How about a Rad box, bitch for lan parties though ............ |
I was thinking about making it clip on so that way everything would be easy to be installed and removed
This project is gonna take me a long ass time to do... lol That box is a awesome idea but don't I need 2 PSU? one for the computer one for the water rig? I really just need to keep everything simple and clean but 1x120mm rad WILL not hold all the hardwares i need to cool :S As up to now i am just waiting on USPS to drop off the package |
1 triple rad on the roof would be fine. Plenty of ways to mount it so you'll see minimal tubing. Don't hang it on anything that opens. It's a disaster in the making.
|
gottcha!
now i have been looking at some of the pictures on other sites and seems like there is other ways of doing i'll get some drilling going soon |
You only need one PSU... of the propper wattage of course :D
|
I am going to keep that in mind, i am still searching around see if there is any way i can put it on the case
|
You can always go wit han old school super server case :)

kinda glad i got some time to think it over, and been thinking about just give this setup to my mom cuz she really needs a upgrade from her single core AMD 754 and bust my i7 back out and water that thing and just use that as a 24/7 but then it ain't gonna be a hybrid no more lmao!!!
but for real tho. if i do the i7 i'll be needing a 1366 water block and a few other stuffs.... but the good part is i'll be in my thermaltake case and that thing is pimpin!!!!! |
What type of wb where u going to use ? 775?
|
no mate! i was gonna keep on using my P5K-E wifi but my mom needs a upgrade and i need a better bench rig so i monna wait and get a 2011 or a 1155 or something and go from there...
|
stay tuned! i monna go rise hell in best buy today hopping to get the camera fixed or something
then i'll come home take some pix |

ok this could be the BEST or THE WORST idea i have ever came up with......
so been thinking want a easy way out i'd be more than happy to get my driller out and poke some holes but before that i got some magnet from the HDDs :D and i can just use those magnet to hold it to the case cuz they are EXTREMELY strong and i remember i have alot of them some where in the house what do you guys think? |
something about magnets + hhd's don't give me a warm fuzzy
|
ummm... I think magnets erase data from the HDDs Bro
|
I have always been told about it but the thing is i have tried to erase my data with the HDD and it never worked :/
I may just be doing it wrong or something ^^^^ I was about 13 so give me a break! Ever since then i have allways had magnetized stuff stuck on the side of my case @.@ once again I may have just been really lucky but yeah.... Think I still may just put a few holes on my closed side of the case tho just be on the safe side cuz i got too much data if I lose anything I'll prob set something on fire again I'll post some ideas in a little eating lunch atm |
what are you eating
|
jeeez, shoulda been done by now :D

Rad mount http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...0Water/Rad.png I have a strip of white SMD hopping to have the RED water running though the rig Option 1 for the lights http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...MDLIGHTOP1.png Option 2 http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...MDLIGHTOP2.png |
So you're gonna tape the rad to the side ?
 Sorry Bro, couldn't stop myself :D |
tape ain't that bad of an idea but naw i monna bolt it on lol
i monna drill a few holes (4) from inside out and bolt it on that way |
