Questions about pumps, and tubing
 

So I am going to start slowly ordering water stuff for my next setup.

First question, is the variable speed MCP655 worth it over the standard?
Tubing I want to go with Feser, UV reactive, anyone have pictures of difference in glow between the Black and Blue tubing? Nipster?

EK Acetal block vs. Heatkiller?

1 - yes IMO. The non adjustable is set at #4 so you get a stronger pump with the adjustable at #5

2 - Feser tubing, IME, sucks :thumbdown: It's too stiff and kinks easier than Tygon 3603, use UV reactive coolant to get your UV effect. I tried Feser once, never again.

3 - Look at the Aqua Computer Kryos line

There is one for each price point and each one will fit on any intel socket without any changes to the mounts. Heatkiller and EK mounting brakets are socket dependant so you have to buy multiple mounts and change them if you move the block to a new board. I use the HF on my gaming rig.

Tygon clear tubing. Which fluid would you recommend? The only reason I was going to go with UV tubing, is to use distilled water.

I noticed that with the heatkiller blocks and mounting...

I use Feser UV reactive dye that comes in small, maybe 3 or 4 oz bottles then mix it with distilled water :thumbsup:

edit: I stand corrected, the EK blocks will fit multiple sockets. Problem is they're fugly :rofl: Also, the Kryos have a great pin matrix for cooling

OOh another good question, I will only be cooling my 2600K, 120.2 rad good enough? is a 120.3 overkill?

What rad would you recommend?

I would roll with the 2x 120 for Sandy, My h70 does a decent job and provide stability at 4.5 24/7 for my gamer in a warm inviroment.

use the 3x120 for the vid card or cards depending on what your doing.
My experience with the 655 and all the rinky dink water cooling site pumps is that they all blow .....

I wasn't ever happy with the feser coolants glow. I ended up going with the blue tubing and blue coolant for this. I only went with the blue coolant due to the reservoir being clear.

Let me dig around for some older pics of when I had clear tubing and blue coolant.

Well I guess when I had clear tubing I had the black coolant that glowed blue. I loved the black but the glow blew goat balls.

Rick what size is that radiator? Specs? All copper, brass, aluminum?

You can't or at least not that I know of. Maybe with clear tubing and blue dye but not the black. I had the same lighting with both setups and you see the black just wouldn't glow. The feser colored tubing really pops under the UV light.

Wonder if I do a mix of the Black and Blue dye, I want something a little darker than the average blue, but I want it to pop!

What are your thoughts on a Feser 120.2 rad Nip?

Love the Feser rads. Very clean looking. Never used them as I got out of the water cooling before they dropped. Looking to get back in it one day with a full blown setup.

Hard to find anyone selling Feser rads anymore. They don't even list them on the Feser website ??

Rick, that RAD is HUGE! More than I would need, this will all be a part of my next build for a case mod contest, hopefully everything will be tucked in the case.

It is universal mounting for any Intel or AMD socket, and it now includes the easy mounting kit as well.

Seen better things about the EK block over the Aqua block, think I will go that way.

Personally, not that big of a fan of the low fin density radiators (feser, thermochill, black ice GTX, switchtech mcr's, xspc, ), a black ice xtreme has way more cooling ability, just needs stronger fans. I speak from experience using all of them with different pumps and different blocks. Also, for tubing, i know you want your UV pop or whatever, but i found tygon overpriced, masterkleer too stiff, feser, also kinda stiff, but Durelene is almost as flexible as tygon, way less money, and imo, the best stuff on the market that i see out there, that isn't overpriced tygon (which really doesn't do a bend that much better than any other brand, it's just softer)

Just got some Danger Den UV colored tubing in Red and Blue. 10ft comes with 10 colored plastic clamps, and a tubing cutter :thumbsup: Haven't installed yet though :P

Haven't tried DD tubing. If you speak well of it maybe i'll use it for the 1366 build i'm doing.

Actually you can, simply by adding 3 to 4 times the amount of dye called for ;) Problem is, this can tend to foul up high end CPU blocks pretty quickly :ohcrap: :laughing:
