E-Quake Contest preview
 

Heya guys, a few of you got a glimpse of the upcoming planned contest to raise funds for the Japanese people after their horrific Earthquake/Tsunami tragedy. Below is a rough sketch of whats planned ahead. We have donation hardware from MSI, a total of 5 mainboards. Vince from Kingpincooling has pledged a few of his industry leading ln2 evaportor pots and we're soliciting other hardware vendors as well. Massman & Hwbot will be providing the submission engine and validation process. We are looking at Sunday March 27, 2011 as the official start date. Contest will go something likes this:
- $5 entry fee via paypal to Kal-EL@overclockaholics.com ( GIFT ONLY!!! )
- All PAYPAL ENTRY FEES 100% will be forwarded by Kal-EL to the Japan Relief orginization CRASH
- use hwbot contest submission engine (Starts Sunday March 27, 2011)
- Any platform single cpu + single GPU (1 Graphics processor)
- 32m and 3DMark2001SE (normal hwbot rules apply)
- 32m prize = 870A-Fuzion
- 3D2001 Prize =Tek 9- 6 SLIM GPU POT
- All valid entrants eligible for weekly random drawing of remaining donated hardware:
880GMA-E45 (2)
890GXM-G65 (2)
Dragon F1 Gemini (1)
Kingpingcooling Tek 9-Fat Boy GPU pot (1)

More random prizes to be announced during competition!
- Runs for 4 weeks (ends April 24th, 2011, 2300 hours or 11pm Hawaii TIME)
- OCA user registration is wide open for this contest and mandatory to be eligible for entry to contest
- Contestants must post submissions at oca with below dekstop background and have valid hwbot submission links in post

However, I don't wanna be an opportunistic prick and exploit this horrific tragedy to plaster Overclockaholics.com across people's desktops. We're hosting the contest in conjuction with support from Hwbot, MSI, KINGPINCOOLING and who knows who else. We should stay on point with the purpose of the contest which is humans helping humans.

We need something that says "I <3 Japan" or how bout:
OC4 JAPAN
Earthquake Relief 3.11.11

And incorporate the CRASH icon into the desktop since this is the organization we're gonna be forwarding the relief funds to?

If we're gonna fly Overclockaholics.com, we should also fly MSI, Hwbot, KINGPINCOOLING banners (small ones) on the desktop as well. It'd show who came together to help out.

Good point kal, I do not think having the website on their is an issue, maybe ditch fostering the fever, and include other sites/companies that are joining in on this.

Definitely include the Crash logo.

Wow, nice idea for a contest, but even 50 overclockers sending 5$ doesnt make a big amount. Should we not make it higher????

Well I think the point is to keep the price low enough to attract as many clockers as possible. Plus I'm willing to bet that a few people will exceed the entry fee. Plus every little bit helps. If we make it too high then we might bring in less due to the fewer entries.

I will contact the game clan members for participation.

Just as soon as I can dump some gear I am going sandy clit and finally getting a DX11 GPU so I can play too. Now if I could only decide on what damn 1155 board to get. :argh:

I think the design is fantastic as well! Other than the need for a DX11 video card, anyone should be able to enter and run the benchmarks for a chance at the drawings regardless of their hardware/rig atm. That should be sufficient incentive to participate by all. When a finalized thread and ground rules are established so I can link to it I will begin getting the word out to the various sites I frequent. Let's make this easy and fun! :good:

Btw, you need to open this up to all hardware instead of just SB/DX11 video for maximum participation. Maybe pick your two top prizes for the winners of each bench and random draw for the rest.
