Nice!!! What type of volts you usin there? LN2? I am thinkin of converting to this mobo when I get done with my DFI. That's still on done the line though. Will have to see though.

Nice V2! Try using less voltage on that D0 (1.45-1.55) as they seem to respond better to less voltage than C0/C1 required. Also what temps where you running around?

3540 should get you 3D stable in the 5200 range unless you really got a dog of a chip.

just been binning chips and hit a good i7 975 the other day :)

ill try less voltage, but for some reason that chip was craving more! maybe i was running the silicon too cold?

Travis, have you experimented with different temps? I was reading something interesting the other day about these i7's. I forget who but a couple of people were saying that even though their chips would run colder, the imc seemed not to like it. I forgot how much, but either they had to lower memory mhz or timings to be stable. I'll try and find that thread.

yes, the i7 chip is very strange with temperature scaling. even tho they will run colder it might cause more instability and less overclock ability to run at the lower temperatures.

makes me burn a lot more LN2 fiddling around with temps :(

Very odd Travis. I think you are the 5th or so person to report this. Do you think, like most others, that it is the IMC that starts making things get wierd when the temps are too cold?

Plus wtf are you guys getting the W3520/W3540's? I can't find anywhere that has those.

Yeah temp scaling is a big part of getting your chips "Sweetspot." Between -65 to -95 is common. Most I would say like between -85 and -95 with some liking warmer some liking colder.

The temperature it like is also tied to the volts your running. So if you change your volts it may be a different temp for stability.

Wow, these i7 just seem to be alot of work for sub zero.

I have found some chips during my initial testing that had no cold bug.......

i didn't see too much potential in them, maybe ill give them another shot when im done with this chip.

I must agree on temps. My 920 D0 ran fine at -110c but it seemed to be better in the -90c range. I did have it lower than -110c but it didn't seem to make any real differance.

I'm sill kicking myself for not buying two of the Ltd Ed. Classifieds with the NF200 when they were available. Once I decided to, they were no longer there, and I had seen them the day before :crazy:

On a classified, the W3540 will be just as good 99% of the time. The difference between a good and bad batch is much more important than the difference between the 40 and 70 ;)
