DrNippin's Air Adventures

Been real busy the last few days but finally had time to tweak with my setup. Don't laugh as this is my 1st experience with an i7. I don't know what the norm is with these but here is my 2nd overclock. The 1st one was at 4ghz. Looks good to me. :D

Chuchnit 04-22-2009 06:13 PM

Oh man uber nice vcore :D Have you had a chance to play with the memory yet?

DrNip 04-22-2009 06:14 PM

No. I'll get there just want to figure out what she has in her. BRB.

Chuchnit 04-22-2009 06:15 PM

Cool beans. Still that's really really low vcore to have HT on. Man hurry and get the 1366 mounting from EU :D

Jeffro64 04-22-2009 06:19 PM

Sweet... I can't wait until I have mine to play with!!

Kal-EL 04-22-2009 06:22 PM

Shit dude, thats good overclock for that voltage on an i7 from what i've seen. keep pushin

All these years of CPU's and it looks like I might have got me hands on a good one finally!

Jeffro64 04-22-2009 06:31 PM

After all you had to deal with I sure hope so!

Chuchnit 04-22-2009 06:33 PM

What kind of temps are you seeing nip? Does it seem to run cooler than people were posting with CO/C1?

DrNip 04-22-2009 06:42 PM

Here is a comparison on stock settings with turbo enabled.

http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/j...rell/Stock.jpg

@ chuchnit - It is pretty hot in my house now but temps were in the norm. Cores are 39 at stock but this morning they were 32 at stock. Just shows you how much hotter it is now.

Chuchnit 04-22-2009 06:49 PM

You make me want one :)

DrNip 04-22-2009 06:56 PM

OK here is a 1st overclock on me RAM. Timings are a lil loose. Will tighten them up in a minute.

DrNip 04-22-2009 07:05 PM

Now this is just too damn fun!!!

Jeffro64 04-22-2009 07:11 PM

Dayum! :D

Chuchnit 04-23-2009 02:25 AM

Dude I think you scored a killer chip. Keep pushing that memory and uncore :D

DrNip 04-23-2009 04:43 AM

Did some basic wPrime runs as well as a Vantage runs just for 8-10 point pickup. I have way more in this, just a basic overclock on it beat out my e8600 on these benches. :D

Chuchnit 04-23-2009 05:02 AM

Very nice runs buddy. I'm jealous :D

DrNip 04-23-2009 05:32 AM

Whoa!!! This thing stomps a mud hole in wprime. Set the thread count to 8 and watch it take off. Mind you these my runs were only at 4300mhz!!! This cpu gets a lil tougher to overclock the higher you get. Gettin to 4300mhz is a breeze. Past that and it is a tweakin game. Might be at this longer than what originally thought. I have to get the clockin down 1st before I throw the pot on it.

Chuchnit 04-23-2009 05:45 AM

Dayum!! Is that still at 1.65v for the memory? Give me some 7-8-7 love :D

Yeppers.

Jeffro64 04-23-2009 06:00 AM

I gotta learn about these memory settings!

DrNip 04-23-2009 06:32 AM

Well that is about it for now as I have to go to work. 22.4 points picked up from just wPrime and Vantage. That was with a mild 4.3ghz clock, no RAM tweaks just the basics set on it, mild GPU clocks as well as no tweaks on them. :D

Kal-EL 04-23-2009 08:25 AM

Looks like u have some nice point gains in ur future drnip. :D

DrNip 04-23-2009 04:08 PM

ZING!!!!

Chuchnit 04-23-2009 04:27 PM

Nothing short of impressive... Great job and great combo

DrNip 04-23-2009 04:35 PM

That's on air with it 80 degrees outside and my windows are open so it is almost as hot in here! Wish I could do that 22x mult like some can on their mobos.

Kal-EL 04-23-2009 04:42 PM

Hot dammed, lookin like a killer whale of a chip!

DrNip 04-23-2009 04:45 PM

Oh and I booted that speed. No FSB here.

Jeffro64 04-23-2009 04:57 PM

HOLY CRAP!!!!:confused3:

That is impressive.... Hope I get a good chip like that when I get mine.

DrNip 04-23-2009 05:03 PM

WOOT WOOT!!! 2100 on the ol RAM!!!

DrNip 04-23-2009 05:17 PM

...and it keeps going and going.

http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/j...rell/920_6.jpg

That's set to 2150 in BIOS windows only showin 2146. WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Chuchnit 04-23-2009 05:24 PM

makes me sick and happy for ya at the same time.

DrNip 04-23-2009 05:29 PM

You asked me to up the speed and volts on the RAM. :splits:

Chuchnit 04-23-2009 05:30 PM

Yeah I did :D Have you tried 2000mhz CL7-8-7-20?

Nah. I'll give her a whirl tomorrow.

Jeffro64 04-23-2009 05:47 PM

BIG CONGRATS NIP!

Now someone explain this ram stuff to me!!!

DrNip 04-24-2009 03:03 AM

As you already know RAM goes like:

DDR3 1033
DDR3 1333
DDR3 1600
DDR3 1800
DDR3 2000

and what not with a few extra's in between. I have DDR3 2000 but have them runnin at DDR3 2150 in BIOS and in windows it is runnin at DDR3 2147.9 which is 1073.9mhz. You just double the MHz to equal the MT/s. So 1073.9MHz = 2147.9 MT/s. Not to mention I have them runnin that at cas 8.

Which is pretty damned insane at 2147mhz :D

Jeffro64 04-24-2009 07:42 AM

So your basically just putting in the Mhz like I did in my bios for 1800 and then telling it what timings you want. I just didn't know if there were other settings involved or not.

I do see what your saying though....in cpu-z my ram says 900Mhz and doubled that is 1800. Ima learnin.... I think LMAO!

Your FSB: DRAM says 2:10 and on mine it says 1:2.... What does that setting in the bios do for your ram?
