Sealing up a motherboard with Dragon Skin. video

I did a video of seealing up my motherboard with dragon skin a while ago. It kind of raw and no sound. I plan on making another one that at least has sound and an explaination someday. Or maybe i will just edit sound into this one. The one part of this application that i dont reccomend is where i actualy put the Dragon Skin in the CPU Cage. Your best bet is to use eraser in that area, to avoid it seeping into the CPU pins. That happened in this vide and as far as i was concerned it was ruined. Although i did sell that board to someone and i think that its working fine now.

If you have any questions feel free to ask away here.

What you can do Duke is to use painters tape around the perimeter of the cpu and then lightly skin over the top of it. This works well for a chip you do not intend to be swapping out frequently. Otherwise I agree eraser is better around the cpu for usual benching purposes. The tape method is the one I used for the latest small form build which will be using a Boreas TEC for cooling. I will not be swapping chips in this anytime soon and it will take care of any condensation that might arise.

(Was that a magic cape you had on in the video? :taunt:)

LOL it was like 6am or earlier i was in my housecoat.
I tried sealing off the cpu with blue tape in that video but it looks like you did it different than i did.

Still like you said, If a person plans on swapping out cpu's then eraser is better in that area. Because once you pull up an edge the rest pulls off with it.

Although i have skinned over skin to repair pulled up edges and that works great.

nice dukie :) I go with the flow method and leave the socket hold down attached. then I just tape on top of the processor edges that way can pop a new chip in easy. Nice video man

Nice video. Gonna look into getting some Dragon Skin myself.

This is the 2nd board ive had it on. Keeps the nb/sb temps in the low 30's. I'm using the little Thermaltake pump and dual 80mm fan/rad setup with it right now but i'm going to switch it over to my AC water chiller this weekend. Especiallly since the motherboard is all skinned up.

They want $30 to ship some dragon skin out to me in HI. Ugh....

rickss69 10-27-2010 09:31 PM

No distributor's close by?

GFDuke 10-27-2010 10:56 PM

There most likely is a distributor closer. After i ordered mine i got an e-mail form the company telling me that i could order from a distributor thats in my state to save on shipping. They gave me the name and addy of the company selling it. I thought that was super cool of them. Maybe if you call them they will hook you up.
