What do you think about the new Corsair unit Honda? Especially with 100% modular cables? I tell ya though. Antec is making a great run towards the benching crowd with their latest PUS's. I'm loving my new TPQ1200w :D.

Me 2, have 2 of the OC versions and 1 of the stock 1200W unit

Hondacity 06-05-2010 04:05 PM

corsair ax1200 is set right now to 12.v not even 12.2 volts...it should be ok but i prefer higher voltage...

i think they will have a higher 12v version...if not i'll wait for the other 1200 psus...

for antec....the tpq1200 is the old enhance tech...its been around since 2008....

the new antec hpp1200 i think is an upgraded tpq...using the newer enhance 1200 gold series...or prolly the delta based signature 1200 gold....either way i really can't tell if they'll be good for 980x and 480gtx....

i like waiting for new psus...i get to use my current one...lol

Kal? Oh wait I forgot Mike is in the hardware piling mode too. Tell me, do you ever get ready to bench and feel overwhelmed at what hardware to start at? :rofl

Jor-El 06-05-2010 04:27 PM

I so wanted a OC unit Mike, how did you get it? I need 12.5v on 12v rail REAL bad! I much prefer single rails to multi rails!

Honda, I know you have a different perspective due to your knowledge base, but at what point will we really get no benefit from these new PSU's? I mean lots of guys already argue that PSU's have not much to do with your overclock granted you are using good units.

I know the innovation is there and not bs, but when does it not practically matter for us?

Hondacity 06-05-2010 05:12 PM

its true the power circuit design for most p55 and x58 and p67/h67 have really improved....include the video cards too...

if you're happy with your psu..you don't need another psu..

i just want the smoothest power supply available...

Well given that we are all enthusiasts we always want the latest and greatest :D I was really just asking because I knew you know the true answer. ;)

This is a new Antec High Current Pro 1200W power supply, made by Delta, with an 80+ Gold certification, reportedly capable of delivering up to 1700W :thumbsup:continuous

Witchdoctor 07-21-2010 11:21 AM

Can't the TPQ already do that among many of the other 80 plus PSU's? I thought the name of the efficiency game is to build a unit to super specs and then step down the rating to get the efficiency numbers you want.

tpq1200 can do approximately 1500w continuous....[1850 x 83% efficiency at peak load]

http://www.overclock.net/9330277-post17.html

Quote:

hello all , i just modified the Opp protection higher , even 1850w input is ok too .

i changed nothing inside , besides the OPP resistance .
here's defintion of continuous

http://www.antec.com/Believe_it/Even...tinuous_Power/

anyways saying 1700w continuous is like saying two hx850 = 1700w

peak power from the wall = 1700 / 0.85(silver) = 2000w

tpq1200 peak 1850 :good: vs hcp1200 peak 2000w:eek:

Chuchnit 07-21-2010 01:02 PM

^ roger. I'd still use 2 PSU's before I'd ever get close to peak "rated" aka 1200w. So would you because you are a "clean power" freak :D

Hondacity 07-21-2010 01:11 PM

i haven't studied the ax1200 response time yet..there is some graphs for the transients...

i just love development in psus...

**just finished cleaning up a dell computer...dell psu has a delta fan lol

currently, there are really very few new options in the 1200w range that are on the market. We recently reviewed the corsair ax1200 and that unit easily swiped the crown of best 1200w unit on the market not just because of this malaise but also because it was certainly the best 1200w unit on the market at the time. Today though, the antec hcp-1200 is here and after everything we have seen it represents more than a legitimate contender to that crown of best 1200w unit on the market as the hcp-1200 seemingly matched the ax1200 stride for strideand pulled ahead in most tests.

sofos1990 10-25-2010 06:53 AM

Can't find it in any european online store :( Like the oc'ed edition .

Hondacity 10-25-2010 07:00 AM

this one will be released for sure...just wait.. :D

i hope its not expensive in eu...

Splave 10-26-2010 03:08 AM

I trust johnny, if he can say the antec isnt as good with a giant antec banner add on his site than the AX must be better imo.

Voltage regulation is just a tad tighter on the AX-1200 and Corsair offers a 7 year warranty versus Antec's 5 year warranty. Add to this that the Antec looks like it's going to be a tad bit more expensive when it hits the shelves next month. That's not to steer anyone away from the Antec. Often, street prices are lower than MSRP's and Antec, as well as Delta, have a long standing repuation for delivering top quality units that last.

I think the corsair is better, but they both have switches so I will take either lol
