My step son is supposedly going to finance my building one with 2 unlocked Xeon's so i can bench it before we turn it into his new server :D
Supposedly is the key word :morpheus: :taunt: |
as of this date jim, Unfortunately there are not any unlocked Xeons that are dual QPI
well.. there WILL BE ...
That's what I get for listening to a networking geek that isn't into overclocking :D |
They're showing up in the wild...
I know dual qpi is the only chips that work but whats the best to go for bench wise. 2 quad core or 2 hexa core. Which line should we be looking at specifically.
I would think to go for as many cores as possible, then pwn on wprime and vantage.... I have a feeling that's all that will really benefit from dualies in the short term.
06 and vantage cpu scores is what im thinking. and if a 6core clocks only to 4.8ghz and a quad clocks to 5.5ghz which would be better ya know? you would probably gain on the game tests depending on your gpu config. this is all hypothetical though
I know that a 6 core @ 4.8 def. gets a better cpu score than a quad @ 5.4... ;)
The trick is getting 2x 6 core chips to be able to hit the same high bclk. |
