EVGA Classified SR-2 (Super Record 2)

hey guys i know i am really slow on new stuff and all and you guys may already have talked about this

but i just saw this EVGA Classified SR-2 (Super Record 2) board and for real dude it's awesome! but i saw some things on the board i have no idea about and if anyone can maybe explain to me a real quick that'll be awesome!

http://www.evga.com/PRODUCTS/IMAGES/...55-A1_XL_5.jpg
you see how on the motherboard there is alot power sockets, next to each cpu socket there is 1 2x4 and 1 2x3 but on the side of the left socket there is another 2x3 what are the 2x3s? i have never seen those before......
also what if i want to use it do i have to get an adapter for it? because i only got a 850Antec (the yellow one)

oh yeah two more things...
:Dizzy:
is this a server board or is this a real overclocking board like the R3E or the Classified?

i saw this thing have USB3.0 but didn't see anything about it's having SATA3.0
well, dose have SATA3.0 or no?

kikicoco1334 05-06-2010 03:27 PM

nvm i just saw it dose have 2STAT3 on it
my bad

This is a real overclocking server board. EVGA has a special edition PSU from Antec to handle all teh power requirements, otherwise you will need to run two psu's to cover all the connections. Those extra power connections you see is for each CPU. Most performance X58 mainboards have additional power feeds special for i7 cpu's.

Check out the link on the sidebar for information regarding the sr-2 from EVGA.

The 2x3 as you call it, is better known as a 6-pin PCI-E connector. The additional one below the left socket is for extra power to the PCI-E slots for highly overclocked quad GPU action. The board for sure is an overclocking beast. Look what Shammy and K|ng|n did with it a couple weeks ago.

BTW, EVGA is sponsering an event for the next month for team OCA hwbot members to win one of these beauties. :D

Damnit Kal-EL, lemme respond once please? You are too fast. :D

punx223 05-06-2010 06:27 PM

the 6 pin above the pci-e is only required if using slot 4, 5, 6 or 7

kikicoco1334 05-08-2010 10:51 AM

there is no way in hell i monna win but yeah i wish i am can be competitive

my best system is a i7 laptop right now
http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/hp-p...-33776108.html
that's what i got.. with 8GB

the GPU is overclocable and all but still......

spfoam1 06-23-2010 12:12 PM

I managed to buy one of these boards.
So far all I have been able to do is stare at it and drool.
All I need now is a few graphics cards, a huge case, and (most important of all) some time to play with it.

This will make a fine e-mail rig. My i7 975 just don't cut the mustard anymore.

^^

I'm surprised there isn't more on this board here. Is there another thread on it somewhere? I just haven't had time to dig around much.

punx223 06-24-2010 06:06 AM

Not too many threads out on the overclocking of this board, Shammy or Shanny are your best resources at this time.

Dentlord just won the board in the Shammy contest so he'll likely be joining you soon.

spfoam1 06-24-2010 12:25 PM

So WTF...don't you have one?

Thanks punx....I'll be sure to hit you up once I get it powered up.

I'll be putting a pair of Intel X SSDs on it, 12 Gigs of CL6 DDR3 (but only 1600 MHz). I think I'll watercool to start...I miss all the innerds I had on my 780i system. I'd go SS, but that little prick out in California already screwed me so I won't be buying another one from him. Don't know who else makes one as good. Not sure about GPUs. All I got now is two 4870s or one 5870.

or a couple 470's if you need a budget beater man

spfoam1 06-24-2010 02:48 PM

Thanks to Shannon, I now own a pair of Xeon 5670s. I put them into the sockets on the SR-2 and I developed such a woody I had to stand up.

haha,

I was planning on building one... but other things have come up recently.... you know how that goes lol

spfoam1 06-24-2010 03:25 PM

OK Punx... I am wondering... since there are 2 CPUs, when I am ramping up the OC and go too far, how do I know which CPU might need a bit more of this or that?

I look into the future and I see many hours of tinkering...many many hours

Gunslinger 06-24-2010 03:29 PM

The board will run with just one CPU installed, so that will allow you to test them individually.

there are cpu disable jumpers up next to ram slots.... you dont even need to remove cpu to run each one seperate

spfoam1 06-24-2010 03:39 PM

Thanks to both......that is exactly what I was wondering if I could do.

Now, if one OCs better than the other can they run at different speeds?

different multi yes.... but have to use same blk/Qpi link speed

spfoam1 06-24-2010 03:55 PM

Thanks again.
