FACE 04-21-2010 04:41 PM

under $400? Nice!

MaadDaawg 04-21-2010 04:43 PM

Had it been there a week ago I'd have given it some serious thought.. but bought a 762 instead already, so no go for me.

I can't imagine what ASUS was thinking when they designed and shipped this product without the external LCD Poster ??? I mean come on, every ROG board to date had an LCD Poster!!! How you supposed to follow your boot, or debug when something don't go exactly right? No hexidecimal display? No LCD Poster?? Jeeez...

:D

Patch 04-21-2010 06:56 PM

Looks great, price looks great but can't stand Asus's un-user friendly BIOS.

Yes believe me I know what you talking about and I pretty much dislike ASUS as well and would not touch it with a 6' long stick but after talking to Slavinius I thought I would check it out. BTW: its out f stock already!

DrNip 04-22-2010 02:03 AM

I have the Asus Premium and only because of the Sata 3 on it. Went to put a mild overclock on this 960 and the BIOS was just poorly put together. As I remember correctly my P5B Deluxe was just the same. Can't beat EVGA's BIOS. Best in the business.

Witchdoctor 04-22-2010 02:30 AM

I used ASUS boards for years and have always had good luck with them.

Whent to Gigabyte for i7 and eventually a 760 .....

Best of luck H&R ... let us know the verdict ?

ReverendMaynard 04-22-2010 02:38 AM

looks killer and great price as well. Splave spoke highly of it, so take that for what it's worth....a shit ton.

I'm bypassing this offering for the SR-2. Got the chips, and the RE3 would be a lateral move on a 920 from the 760.

excellent choice, rule that weird issue out :cool3:

DrNip 04-22-2010 03:34 AM

Will be waiting on results. Really interested on what this can do with a 920.

Same here. 250+ bclk will pretty much sell me. lol, 6ghz uncore wouldn't hurt. :ohcrap:

DrNip 04-22-2010 03:42 AM

I'm looking for 275+ BCLK! :broomstick:

When you get it H&R could you snap some pics of the BIOS for us and post them?

They dont need the LCD poster they have ROG connect. maybe?

Splave 04-22-2010 04:00 AM

word, no more boot codes they tell you whats happening ftw.

ROG connect was epic for cpu-z, just have cpu-z and spam the valid key will upping with rog connect which doesnt tax the system

Got mixed feelings with ASUS mobos. Commandos have been good to me, but a crappy RE and POS P6T7 soured me for a while.

Knew it would sell out fast so I bought mine early. :clapping:

With the R3E, GTX 480 and a TPQ 1200 OC all on their way, I'm getting kind of giddy.

Now just have to figure out how to grease the wheels with the wife for a 160L dewar rental.....$150 + $45 rental + $25 delivery = a much better deal than lugging my dewars back and forth and getting overcharged for the hassle. Hope they can get it up the driveway. Problem is that I'll have a hard time ever sending it back........

Splave 04-22-2010 06:01 AM

do they do rent to buy?

Neuromancer 04-22-2010 06:23 AM

LOL LEase to own option FTW!!

I love ASUS products and hate them

Love them because they are such durable products

Hate them cause their RMA process SUCKS ass and has no where near the QC their manufacturing process does.

Install a winch in your garage and pull it up your drive way. I didn't do this yet but my driveway is pretty steep and 160L is a monster. There is no way you push it up a driveway so I thought this would be a nice idea in case I ever rent one. ;)

That would most definitely NOT help grease the wheels with the wife.

"No, really, hon, this is gonna save us sooo much money. I'll get if for less than 1/2 the price I'm paying now. What am I paying now, you say? Errmm.....not that much..... Well, it's too heavy to move around so we need this winch, see.... Oh yeah, we need one anyay....It would help with that tree you keep wanting me to remove from the front yard.... And we wouldn't be able to get the tank up the driveway otherwise, I mean, Splave lives across country....You'll love having the tank here because I'll be home more often not having to keep going to the welding supply....and you'll get used to the periodic gunshot sounds as the tank pops off now and then...."

Splave 04-22-2010 08:59 AM

Steps for success
1. Kick out the wife
2. Get massive ln2 supply
