Easy peasy mod fo sheezy

Ram is hynix hy5rs123235b, so we will go with the regular volt mod. Popped the lid and there was a bunch of dog hair rofl! :cool3:

No 20k vrs so I will be using 50ks tuned down to 20k :thumbsup:

Initial tests are funky, the one card is idling pretty hot 54C 100% fan

other is 40C 100%. The warm card also adds 15-20 seconds to the boot time for some reason :Dizzy: and is freezing the desktop :eek:


Stock

Card 1:
aq3 fails @ 837core
aq3 fails @ 1180mem

Card 2:
Going to re-tim and see if its just a heat issue

Desktop freezing might need a OCP mod. My card used to do it and after the mod it was gone.

It should be fine though pre-mod right? I havent done any mods yet and its messing up.

I was able to run vantage 833 core 1040mem with the cards on stock cooling. The dog hair made for some great TIM.

nice I jumped from 824 to 837 and first card froze in aq3 so 833 might be the max as jeff stated. Ram was good at 1150 the first card.

Going to hit the second card on my break and get read points on. Then the mod will be done when I get home from work and I will drop them in the mail tonight!

Whats the best way to ship kal-san?

Ship via whichever carrier you prefer, they alll tend to have drop kick box moments so just pack it well for the long haul over teh pacific. The pilots like to do roll-overs at the mid-way point.

Did you hit the 9800gx2 already? May as well ship them all together maybe?

850 core 1.3v, had to up the volts alot as Im thinking it wants more cold idles at 41 and hits 48 in aq3

Will run mem high real quick at 2.1v and see what that hits then will check the other card. :Hi:

mod done on the second card. Still getting weird issues with it though. The 10 second pause before the board even boots to the splash screen when its installed and windows loading is hit or miss. IDK if it doesnt like the board or what. Going to make sure nothings being shorted by the cooler but vr's are working 1.25vgpu and 2.1vddr

O.k., yah, sounds too wierd, maybe something on the pcb is fubarred?

could be but its just funny runs no problem when drivers arent installed and or I run safe mode and sometimes it does boot up fine and even benches fine??? Tried 169.01 (fav 8800 drivers) and would just give me the blinking dash in the upper left corner and blank screen.

Going to reinstall my retail XP on my regular HD and see if that works, funny the other one is no problem though.

Stayed up till 3:30am messing with it rofl, head is spinning at work right now lol.

You might want to try flashing that card with the other's bios... When I still had 2x g92 gt's the second was flaky until I flashed it. After that, I could hit the same clocks on both cards... stock volts though.

Yeah this is a good idea to try but the entire issues sounds like there is something else going on. Are both cards running on the same bios? Check the sticker in the back. :thumbsup:

Ripped the stickers off as they where covering the vgpu mod lol oops!
Will verify in gpu-z the bios version.

Check the bios rev on each, might have to flash teh funk out of the funky card.

The 8800gts 512 is my favourite card by far,

i've killed around 8 of them :D.

my current one does 1200 / 1180 on 3Dmark 2003, its uploaded to hwbot :D.

I think it just wasnt seated right on the torture rack. This ud3lr is one of those really small boards and the holes for cards are off center a bit so it wasnt sitting flush to the pci-e slot. Dumbass.

Been squirlin around this gulftown for the last 25L, something mysterious is afoot with the chip. Cold bug moved down from -155c to -140c which still aint too bad. She is a voltage pig howver. First session was a waste cuz I mounted the sucker too tight. Second session was better. I forgot to go back and take the 06 record with the card. Take care of that tomorrow.

Very nice boss! Man the 06 WR has been my dream with this card for a while now and I think I have something here which I finally use so you have some competition. :D

Kool bones brudder Run, make sure the card is v-modded, cpu speed doesn't appear to open up much on the card as its not bound on the gulftown setup. GPU clocks increase are the best tickler for this combo. I'll do my best to make it interesting for you with this goofy gulfy.

Does the voltage usually slowly droop off from boot to boot? I keep having to turn to bring vgpu back up.

I wonder what she'll do with sub-zero temps? Bah! Gufltown needs fixin first ;)
