Hmmmmm.... I either need to find a decent place to get the parts or start having you guys vmod my garbage ftw...

It looks like too much fun though.... Radio shack here sux.

Chuchnit 03-10-2010 08:12 AM

I ordered my VR's from mouserelectronics. I find it easier to find stuff there and prices are cheaper than digikey.

Splave 03-10-2010 08:20 AM

yeah I get my VRs on ebay :) assortment pack ftw

DrNip 03-10-2010 10:38 AM

Nice. Forgot I had this getting done its been so long. LOL Just kidding.

Splave 03-10-2010 10:46 AM

Wow, you guys really impress me with the tiny v-mod skills. Where'd you all grow up? Under trees in Ireland?

ocgmj 03-10-2010 11:22 AM

From the days of adding mod chips to playstations. :taunt:

LOL! beats the hell out of the hand-held glass I've been using forever....

Sherlock Holmes-style soldering FTW!

Found a tweaker store just off post here that has the vr's i need... going to see if they have a handy gem strap like that while I'm at it.

Dude if I didn't wear contacts by head would jerk down from the weight of my Hubble telescope glasses. :laughing:

HITandRUN 03-10-2010 12:10 PM

This is a sweet tool to have! I have something like this just bigger at work so any volt mod is like a walk in the park. All you need to have is pretty steady hands and the right iron/soldering tip.

Kal, just get a dead router PCB, soldering is actually really easy. Just need to take your time and only use very LITTLE soldering tin:) A good iron with a small and pointy tip and good soldering tin, you'll be rockin those PCB's:)

@ HITandRun: Wow, nice work on that card!:)

Splave 03-14-2010 06:28 PM

DrNip 03-18-2010 08:01 AM

Sweet. Hopefully I can finish up around the house on my projects so I can get some overclocking in. :D

Splave 03-18-2010 08:11 AM

would be great if you got it for saturday :) quick little pwnage. Good for 80 or so points with a 4.5ghz i7 behind it :)

DrNip 03-18-2010 10:48 AM

Man I'm telling you I have a chore list longer than I-40 so anything within the next 30 days is out of the question. New washer and dryer is showing up Saturday not to mention I will be fixing the shade tree plumbing job that is in my house that day. Went to switch out the master and spare bath sink faucets just to find out the plumber glued all the pvc pipe leading up to the sink drain making it impossible to pull out the old drain system. Going to have to put a removable trap in each. :(

I hate that. Looks like a hammer/dremel session underneath the countertops for you buddy.

Measuring and cutting new pipe has always been a pita for me. I always measure twice, cut 1,000,000,000,000 times.

completed, will post pics and a quick bench run. Working on kals card atm

EDIT
Sick, the ram loves the volts. 2.1v = 1152mhz on air is epic, fastest ram on the bot?

Will drop it in the mail in the morning :)

HITandRUN 03-18-2010 05:35 PM

Yeah I have a good clocking mem on mine but its dead right now. I had some condensation killing this thing. Need to replace a transistor so she runs again.

1242 :) makes no score difference though, beggin for core :D

final pics

I use alot of glue, way more than needed just incase you dice it like I think will :)

Black = ground
red = vddr
green = core

VR on back = vddr
VR on front = vcore

I left it at 1.375vcore and 2.2vddr for reference sake. Enjoy bud!

No. That was after I cranked some juice to it. Cant remember how much it was though. I know that it didn't take much V to get it to 1200.

DrNip 03-19-2010 02:03 AM

I can hook you up with a gpu pot, looks kinda ghetto but held really good temps when I used it with dice.

Let me know if/when you need it.
