I love the amount of cold this place is getting! Here is mine all taped up and all insulated ready to give rom and dent some competition!

3-4 layers of armaflex on that bad boy :)

Sweet looking pot mate! I love the new design!

Looking good splave :)

RomDominance 02-15-2010 08:58 AM

do.do.do....d.do....can't touch this!

Here some perspective on the level of illness we are talking....

Dent just called me, he is on the road for four hours one way to pick up a 50L dewar. Guess he didn't like hearing (during our collaborative phone call) that I was at -150c on my 5870 yesterday. The dude has it bad, rofl

Splave 02-15-2010 10:09 AM

thats awesome news!

Witchdoctor 02-15-2010 10:56 AM

It is a true illness for sure

Wish I could afford to get sick ........................... :ohcrap:

Dent + LN2 = bad news for the competition ........................

Still going to try to get my 6.6 for some dice runs for the fun of it ........ :argh:

Splave 02-15-2010 11:18 AM

im just hoping my dewar fits into one of my vehicles lol

2007 rabbit, 2005 camry.

Thinking the backseat of the camry with the front seat all the way forward should fit if not the trunk is monster and I will bungee it with a blanket.

Witchdoctor 02-15-2010 11:24 AM

Looks like your next vehicle is going to have to be an SUV or a pic-up bro .......

Wow we have a lot of members on LN2 .......

Just the way it should be :)

Dentlord 02-15-2010 03:34 PM

You will be a force with a 960 on cascade and a tek-cooled 5870 ... THAT is the type of setup that actually has a chance of winning the contest!!

I backed out on the dewar btw, drove all the way to houston and decided to try and find a better one. 6.5 hours of driving for nothing = FAIL

lol

Rogue210 02-15-2010 08:27 PM

Thats ok dent u will find a better one :)

Kal-EL 02-15-2010 08:54 PM

Sexy looking pot there buddy ;)

Linuxfan 02-17-2010 05:27 AM

Nice tek splave, I'm sure you'll get killer results with ln2!
I want one! :D
Are you going to get a CPU pot as well since you sold your killer cascade unit?

Splave 02-17-2010 06:43 AM

thanks!
yup got an f1 at the same time :)

Kal-EL 02-19-2010 04:26 AM

How goes the insulation process bro?

FYI, I just sleeved up a new F1 pot with tape insulation and it went like this:

1st layer- Painters tape
2nd layer- Tape insulation
3rd layer- aluminum tape
4th layer- Tape insulation
5th layer- Aluminum tape
6th layer- Tape insulation

The seat of the pants feel is that it holds loads and temps longer than my previous F1 pot did with a standard insulation job. FYI Stuff

Splave 02-19-2010 04:39 AM

sweet, I was thinking of taping mine, then armaflex then roofers tape than the tube insulation sock he sends with them

Keep in mind you need clearance for the bolts on s1156 as it can be a tighter fit on one side. So just don't overlayer the sucker ;)

Splave 02-19-2010 05:07 AM

excellent call :) didnt even think of that. Guess thats why you're supes and im splave ;)

haha, yah, my goofs make for good "How Not To's" (getting a layer of tape off = sucks) :scared:

MaadDaawg 03-06-2010 12:57 PM

I was thinking about using metal tape over the painters tape before the armaflex tap, but ended up only using the metal tape to hold down the probe and wire. Now I have painters tape, armaflex tape, frost king tape, armaflex, cept I couldn't use all layers all the way around on the bottom of the Tek cause it tended to force the card into a slanted position... which I figured wasn't cool  Ended up with one layer of painters tape and one of armalex from the cpu block to the top of the copper in the back... keeps the vdimms nice and cold lol

Think I'll rewrap it and use the aluminum tape all the way round .. should help

Just use one more layer of Armaflex tape and you should be good to go.
