TRUE 120 Gets Revised...a bit

Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme Gets Revised
Thermalright's iconic Ultra 120 Extreme (TRUE) CPU cooler has a new revision. TRUE Rev. B brings along a small design change that the company claims improves its cooling performance a little. Most of its 52 aluminum fins barring the top one have a 'V'-shaped cutting in the center. This perhaps increases turbulence (for better heat dissipation) a little. The resulting temperature drops are estimated around 1~2 °C. TRUE Rev. B has started selling in China for RMB 530 (which is around $79), including fan. Without the fan, $72.95 is all it takes.

Small change.

Yeah I have one as well as the last revision and was working on a homebrew review for us. Give me a day or two and i will post it.

Is this one easier to install/uninstall then the thor's hammer?

DrNip 09-03-2009 05:01 AM

I dunno how easy the thor is but this new revision only takes two screws to hold it down and was a breeze to install unlike the last version taking four and being a little tough. It is pretty solid feeling too unlike the old version you would install it and it could still twist around. I'll try my hardest to get the review up tonight after the gym.

Man I need to get a True Baddly, the V8 just doesnt cut it :(

DrNip 09-03-2009 05:20 AM

I'm really liking this newer TRUE and recommend it to anybody. I dunno yet if it cools better than previous versions as I have yet to do a comparison but they had me at the revised mounting as that was my biggest complaint with the last version.

Rogue210 09-03-2009 05:37 AM

yea i struggled a little trying to install the thor's...plus i really like the looks of this one :)

DrNip 09-03-2009 05:46 AM

Personally I'm not to found of the Thor's.

punx223 09-03-2009 06:23 AM

the true with some high cfm deltas, or possibly ultra kaze's could be a very efficient cooling solution... Hell its alot easier o tune with and install than water

DrNip 09-03-2009 07:07 AM

I have two Ultra Kaze 3,000 RPM's on mine with a fan controller. When I need a lil extra I turn it up but pretty much I run them at half 24/7 with a 4.3ghz overclock on my i7 with temps of 42-47.
