Thats crap..I would call them now..Tell them it is used and even though it is replacement only they will do refund and you can order another and play with this one until Monday..You have 14 days to get it back..They will also give you the return label...I have done this many times...

Just put that NY charm on them....LOL

I on the other hand just called the guy who gave me this and said i will need another...LOL

Patch
I saw on XS where they are running 55 with the stock heat sink...Don't you think i could be dealing with a warped NB plate if I am at 66 with mx-3 on???

Patch 04-29-2010 01:24 PM

My temps are much less than 50.

Sure it could be warped.

Your temps sure sound like poor contact with the NB itself. Make sure you've taken off the whole heatsink apparatus to check.

Check out HR's pic of his poor NB contact:

So could anybody tell me now if you have 3 bolts holding the X58 part of the heatsink in place or only two. Like shown in my thread I only had 2 bolts in there even though the are 3 threaded holes in there.

Shoot, I forgot to look buddy, I'll get on it when I sneak home from work later ;)

Mine had 2 also There is a place for the 3rd..Not sure why it wouldn't be there......I had a little better seating with those squares..They were set correct...
Then again, I am the one with the IOH heat problem..The plate does not seem to be warped so I can only assume the NB or IOH is defective...Either way I dropped it off today and should have another on Monday...
I didn't bother to clock this MB with a hot NB...
90-105 with stock heat sink

62-80 with the extra fancy heat sink....
The stock should be around 50c....

As you can see this had the squares which were correct....Didn't have tim like yours did..I am wondering if the person who had your MB first changed this???

Ohh no I had the squares as well. I scraped this shit off and put some TIM on. Also regarding to the bolts so you had 2 as well even though there is 3 threaded holes? Interesting.

This is a bit new to me but let me ask like a noob would....Yes there is 3 threaded holes with 2 screws...There is no tim on the sinks after I pulled the top piece off...They don't use the squares and tim do they???

The heat sinks were clean....No Tim at all..I just figured that was what the squares were for..I would have cleaned it off but once i saw no warp I knew it was going back....should run 50ish with the crap squares...not 100...

This pic sucks, it makes the sinks look like something is on them but they are clean..

wow, look at the CPU..I wiped that as soon as I took off the block with 95% alcohol...it looks shiny..look what the camare reveils...

You can't hide chip-abuse...

HITandRUN 04-30-2010 08:53 AM

The squares are actual TIM when they apply it and this shit hardens so when you take off you heatsink you need to scrape it and redo it. Cant just slap this hardened stuff back on the mobo. :ohcrap:
