still t0o high..for stable clocks.
water or air doesn't remove the heat inside the ihs... blck scaling: pcie, temp, and vtt..these three affects blcks above 220.... |
Thanks, i will try and PM him about a template.i can boot at 237 on this chip with the rex3 with slowmode but it kills any 3d benches or gaming.
board acts weird with 3 bloomfield chips, anything above 215 boot in slow motion, text on bios screen posts really slow and the windows load screen does the same. cpuz takes 1 minute to open and also is like slomotion to open. very unstable. |

On my ud7 the chip has been running between 4500mhz ht enabled and 4700mhz ht disabled for months, both oc's pass long blend runs and linx along with many other benchmarks and hours of gaming. temps never exceed 70c in linx. |
that was max stable right? anything above those...are not stable? if so...
...its like reaching the top...once reaching the top its usually downhill from there... if you pop that cpu into the gb mobo....i wonder how it would do... the higher the clocks tha faster the degradation usually... |

I have put the chip back in the ud7 to make sure it wasnt the chip going bad but it runs like a champ at the same settings. was even able to lower vcore a couple notches with some tweaking. i just installed the 960, so bclk wont ba an issue but this chip just didnt clock as well as the 920. maybe i am asking to much of these chips but worth a shot. Thanks for the reply. |

asus is lucky to made the r3e so tweakable...now all they're doing is bios revisions after revisions... i'll wait awhile till they polish it some more
|
860 was what I was using with my new 980, ln2 mode 1 didnt help :( theres no helping a dud
Also Ive read 3d performance is increased, and 2d performance is decreased when benching vantage and 06 |
Tried the asus bios update utility, it doesnt work = false marketing
Tried the asus software cpu level up oc tool, it worked, cheeseball multiplier bump to 30 and vcore bump to 1.36, lol, I'm rolling noob dirty on the oc, hahaha. Asus Xonar cooked, me sad :( |

Just sve the BIOS to a file then direct the ASUS update utility to the file and wola .... I love it ... but hard to beat the eVGA flash form a CD .... sucks on the hardware bro ... Posted a stop gap in that thread for ya |
anandtech and asus r3e
http://www.anandtech.com/show/3851/e...fraid-to-ask/8 something worth looking into... this weekend i might have time to delve into these new bios options.. |
Hey. I got this RE3.
But I'm really confused with many of the settings on the board, could you gyts help me out a bit? I've only been on phonix bios in my i7 carrier. Mostly EVGA. Could you tell me what kind of safe voltages I could stay in on air/water and ln2. And what they mean, cause they're different than my EVGA bios settings. CPU Voltage: no explanation needed CPU PLL Voltage: What voltage is this, and what will it help my OC for? QPI/DRAM Core Voltage: I'm very unsure what kind of voltage I could use on this one. Same as CPU VTT in Evga bios? DRAM Bus Voltage: 1.65 for stock Vdim probably? IOH=NB voltage, stay around 1.2 -1.3v? IOH PCIE voltage = nu clue :S ICH= South Bridge voltage. if I bump this voltage what benefits will I get? ICH PCIE? And there is a setting about T-Balance and X-power, Xpower is probably for clockaholics speeds?:D And what BIOS Should I use for a W3520, 1005? Best Regards Mr.rusty overclocker.com :) |
pll 1.8 for me....some say its stable @ say 1.5v
qpi/dram core voltage.... qpi/dram(is imc) = vtt dram bus voltage = vdimm nb voltage = i set to auto..i haven't played with this one yet...prolly helps ... make sure the nb tems are below 60C this makes a lot of difference... all other voltages i set to auto... |
Thanks. what kind of QPI/dram voltage could I use on air/water?
|
1.4v will suffice for 42xx for nb frequency.....
i say keep it to 1.4v or something...for air... for 45nm.. |
I always set IOH to 1.4v
IOH PCIE I think = IOH ICH I/O on most other boards... = 1.6- 1.65v for better 3D stability. I use the same voltages for air/water or DIce... (R3F, E759, E758, Asrock Extreme, Foxconn Bloodrage... am I missing one???) |
only volts i mess with are the v-core and qpi/dram and set the others to stock which should be the lowest setting but the pll goes lower so idk if it helps much havent had time to play with it
but benched 3dm06 on water at 4.6ghz but going to try to hook up the ss tomorrow idk why i even got this mb XD LOL when i could bench my 980 @ 5.25-5ghz on the ss on my other asus mb |
