Well I started gaming agian and lets just say that a shuriken heatinsk is not enough to keep an OCed 920 X4 chip cool enough for my tastes.

So I ordered an AMD bracket for the Apogee GTZ and should be installing it later tonight, along with the 300GB Vrap :)

Probably just going to image my current v64 install over to it, rather than go through all mess of relearning an OS like 7.

Neuromancer 12-29-2009 07:36 AM

WOW MAn I changed my mind everyone should water cool :)

Ran some stress testing for a couple hours last night and managed to hit a whooping 32C load temps at 3200 MHz. Decided it was cool enough to turn all the fans off and whatch a hidef movie (yah not a lot of stress but not 0% CPU load either) and was running at 21-23C.

Although I dont think I will be running it fan less very often, since temps shot up to 40C at some point during the night. Also I never realized how loud this PSU is...

No what I ment was make this in to a bench station. Mount the mobo on top router holes for cables. Place PSU hdd ect in the case spots. Even cut the side for a triple rad.

Oh I know what you are talking about now. Nah... too much of a pita to get the mobo in and out I would think.

Heh.. never even finished that case and here I am taking all the parts and moving on to something new.

Geez. Sometimes I wish I could be happy with what I got.

New bench station on the way. Bigger and better than ever. With a design that lets me mount the 4x120mm fan to it for portability but leaves enough tubing length that I can undo a couple of screws and drop the rad out the window should I need to :)

Picked up a new rototools some noew aluminum angle iron and hacked the KB tray from my desk in half to do this :)

Should be interesting....

HOPEFULLY will get to home depot today since it stopped raining or snowing.

Got some stuff to do around the house today and then should be able to get to the store and get some more wood to finish up this project. Little sore that I could not get any benching done this week... guess them is the breaks. If I had been smart enough to pack a heatsink I could have at east rolled up some air cooled practice *sigh

Should be home tomorrow evening though. Hoping to bang out a couple of boints by monday :)

No camera here... so no pic updates... looking good so far though.

Got the loop drained and ready to see if I have enough tubing to make the "detachable rad" idea work.. I f not it will be perma mounted...

Also got the legs for the PCI expansion bracket all sorted.. Will probably wait till summer to refinish it. But the two shelves are stained a nice mahogny color.. just the legs and two feet are white pine lol

Taking a beer break... and getting back to it :)

I'll just use my imagination for now ;)

Neuromancer 02-11-2010 09:37 PM

Yeah for the minute :)

Went out for a spell tonight so sitting half done.. but got some fresh ideas to finish it up on hte morrow. (staining will wait till warmer weather)

If I could find my damn POS camera I would have a project log... but NOOOO moved back to my sister's for a bit and now everything is missing :hate: Whatever, things are starting to look up for me, so im not annoyed.

MDF is easy (and not so easy) to work with. but it should be useful at least for a bit, and by Saturday I will UL some pics :)

Wanted to mount hte pump underneath... I have room.. but its not happening :( hanging off the side AGAIN argh. Res.. of course has to be high... will figure it out tomorrow..

But everything is pointing one way this time.. no flipping it around to do this or that.. all connections... ODD everything is on the same side :) Like a bench station should be :)

Neuromancer 02-13-2010 11:50 AM

WEll... still need to cut and mount the PCI expansion bracket... (have it laying on top there.. it goes about 2-3" lower than that)

Also going to cut another and mount it up there like that for fan mounting.

Need to get some longer tubing so I can run the hoses UNDER the benc station... dont want to have the rig down any longer than necessary anymore so at least getting it up and running evn if its ugly.

My res mount snapped, and I cant locate my nylon pipe strap.. Will have a better design setup soon. Thinking I might just get a 5.25" res and a 355 pump so i can have everything mounted inside as well.

Man feature though. ALL connections are on one side of the becnh station so there is no poking around the back. Everything is right up front. IO panel PCI cables, power, and optical drive.
