No RAM can bench pifast. 600 - 1000 MHz makes not 1 second difference not 6 or 9 cas

TBH I am wonderign why there is such a differnce in scores once OS is tweaked its all CPU speed.

Back in my 775 days I had better success with dropping the Mult and raising the FSB.

Shaved a sec off time. Can't wait to get some better sticks.

Yeah thats what I have been working on too... on X58 :) (237x19 anyone? lol)

Tried 2 sticks of RAM so I could clock higher... dual channel loses almost 2 seconds. Tried disabling link fast QPI mode (supposed to drop it to 12X multi??) nope lost 4 seconds.

I am going to run pifast a couple more times tonight, and then call it quits... and see if I can break 1.40 on superpi.

I have tweaked pifast before, but I either maxed my tweaks already or am missing something obvious.

Nice run ....

Yes, pifast is indeed an ugly wench... I found that most of the tweaks for Spi hurt pifast... ram helps, but it has to be an almost absolutely perfect balance of timings, including those retarded no-name subtimings..

quit working on the why's and who's of pifast since rick rolled me up and smoked me on Spi 8m, but if I can get close enough, I will be back on it and raping it once again...

*hint hint... how big is your screen? try different sizes for pifast. ;)

Interesting...

I managed to knock a full .1 second off my initial pifast run, but no more than that. Think I will be cracking 1.40 8M tomorrow night when I get home... played around with wazza last night till about 4AM, needs 3-4 transfers of 4.5GB to make it effective. I found though, that hitting run 3-4 times on spitweaker and then cancelling it out does the same thing. So hopefully can save my SSDs :)

managed to pull high 1.40.xxx with only 3.4GHz uncore last night. Hoping the 4.2+ wazza will help me break it.

Only one thing left to try and I do not think that it will make 2+ seconds differnce.

Update for post # 7 - http://www.overclockaholics.com/foru...2804#post52804

It Lives! Took a chance and put the 980X in the Classified and it booted...and lookie what she brung me!

Lan was out at the end of the runs so I re-booted to put at defaults so I could submit...she refused to boot again. This may have been her last hurrah but it sure made my day! :D
