The Tek 3 is his "old fatty" as you put it.

Don't get me wrong, the 4/5 are good, but the 3 (fatty) is outstanding.
The slim pots just don't hold the load like the big Tek 3.

Me loves the Tek 3 hug

Thats what I figured with the fatty. Q? What are you guys doing for ram thats placed in the gap between the pot and the pcb? Are you leaving it barren with no ramsink (regulars dont' fit) or are you cutting a ramsink fin down to size and slipping it in there?

Thanks Deanzo. I directed that at dinos cause he's a posting ninja :morpheus: I pretty much knew what blocks fit what. So what kind of swing do you see with say a 285/4890 with full vmods?

Yep, and on top that.
Many (and I have a card right now like this) have said if the mem on X card get's to low it can bug.
The mem on the 260 I'm using right now is like this, I try and keep a load on the card best I can, but if you lock up to offen, and do a number or re-boots, then sit idle as you set up for the bench for too long. The mem gets covered in ice.
With LN2 it's better, as you can hold the pot at say -20 as you do these things, and take it lower just before you start the bench.
But with Dice (what I use the most at this time) it's at -68 or soo the whole time.

That will change from user to user, I don't find it to bad. But you need to keep a better eye on it and really control your pours.
Where as the Tek 3 will hold the load soo much longer, and if you over pour it's not the end of the world.

Another noob question incoming. Watch out!:rofl

Are INF modded drivers allowed if the mod is only to add support for a perticular GPU?

Modded motherboard drivers are a no no.

thebluemeanie1 06-30-2009 06:09 PM

Video card drivers not motherboard. 173.** series modified to support a 9800 GTX to be exact.

Edit to add: With the mod the video card name doesn't display right. It is something like NVIDIA_G92.DEV_0613.1. Probably because I know less about driver modding than I do about 3Dmark 2001 and I just started playing with 3Dmark 2001 a day or two ago.

Kal-EL 06-30-2009 06:19 PM

Are the drivers being hacked or are you just editing the inf file?

PM me the details of the modding you're speaking of and I'll bring it to the elders for discussion.

Other than that, at this point, I'll have to say no modified video drivers, mobo bios's, benchmark program files, bla bla bla. I wanna keep the contest on an even keel.

I know you guys can run flat out with existing drivers and hardware without relying on hacking bios's/drivers.
