I've seen aircraft Mechanics use that stuff to cover small dings and such on commercial aircraft. They always called it speed tape

EB Green is what I've used for years.

"EB Green is found throughout the Navy and rumored to originate from the Electric Boat shipyard, hence the name. If you’re a US Submariner (current or former) you probably heard stories about and experienced the unbelievable strength of “EB Green” duct tape. This stuff is not your Home Depot run of the mill duct tape; I swear when applied properly its just short of epoxy backed Kevlar....."

Duct Tape :P

Wait, what is this thread about again? :D

Witchdoctor 11-10-2011 11:12 AM

ahhhhhhhhhhhhh. I am not an Aircraft Mechanic

OC, if I remember correctly it is about Kiki building a water cooled PC, I have no idea how duct tape or silver tape is being applied to this build. All I can say if tape is involved something has seriousy gone wrong with this build.

I have built probably 25 water cooled systems in my time starting out with home made blocks prior to these designer web sites that simply sell you what you need.
For the life of me I can not remeber using any sort of tape on any of them, zip ties yes but tape ............. ahhhhhh nope no tape I am sure of it ............

I got into this discussion simply to stop my beloved DUK TAPE from being dragged through the mud :ohcrap:

Back pn topic

How about some Pics Kiki ...........

Neuromancer 11-10-2011 11:16 AM

I only worked HVAC for a week :)

I will still call it just like hte metal ventalation shafts in your home

duct link :)

Duk sounds familiar though, like there is a brand called that too, although google reveals nothing...

OC Maximus 11-10-2011 11:24 AM

I got my HVAC Universal Certification back in 1997 and lost my little licence card thingy about 5 years ago.

Haven't done any refer work since 2002.

Bummer Bro ... so what is the "issue" again?

kikicoco1334 11-11-2011 04:56 PM

I take a lot of pix and the lens got jammed so they ware going to fix it, but because the other bestbuy lost the invoice and they can't find it anymore so they do not want to help me anymore till i give them a invoice it's stupid even tho i have the warranty invoce
It's just stupid stuff

MaadDaawg 11-12-2011 03:11 AM

Most newspapers or TV stations have a team of people who take on this sort of shit for us little people. They expose the rat bastards in the media and suddenly they're falling all over themselves to apologize and fix your problem. might give that a try.

or SUE THE BASTARDS lol If you have the warranty paperwork, that should be sufficient. try calling the warranty company?

Good luck

kikicoco1334 11-12-2011 09:01 AM

I know they are gonna get me taking care of or they will die trying.
A little buzzy lately, but once my skool work slows down a little i monna go in and rise hell, they made me miss my mom's birthday picture, my best friend's wading picture, my OCA pictures and more importantly my DIRTY pictures!

kikicoco1334 11-12-2011 04:31 PM

Hope no ass hole steals my idea before I actually get to use it :P
Butta.....
I was in the shower, and I was looking around and found something really interesting that I can take advantage of in my rig.
Instead of drilling holes everywhere use the suckers on the towel hanger
Believe or not those little bastards are REALLY strong! I can hold up my computer with two of those things sucked on top of it.
Now I just need to find a way to make it hold the rad and making it look as nice as it can be.

OC Maximus 11-12-2011 05:17 PM

What do "suckers on towel hangers" look like?

kikicoco1334 11-12-2011 05:38 PM

Suction cup!

OC Maximus 11-12-2011 05:49 PM

Might as well hang the radiator off your nipples using them suction cups.

Use nuts and bolts buddy.

Then yeah I should be off school not next week but week after that, and I should other then getting my homework done and some LN2 benches I should beable to get this project half way done if not all the way

I was also wondering how can I do my side case like yours, but only part of it in see though, I have always been a huge fan of them see thoughs

MaadDaawg 11-13-2011 03:51 AM

or, use your nipples :D Tehn not only could you bench, but you could sell your pics to all the gay mags and have a side income

Sidewinder Computers has some "radiator feet" that are pretty cheap, you might want to look into those. Last time I had my gamer on the Banchetto I had one feser quad sitting on the floor using a lamp base as a foot - worked great

Neuromancer 11-13-2011 01:47 PM

kikicoco1334 11-13-2011 02:29 PM

That's the water res i wanted but have no extra cash to get it atm so just gonna use my current Swiftech one for now

kikicoco1334 11-14-2011 07:17 AM

anyone know how to make the water milk white?
cuz i've decided my theam for this rig is gonna be milk and chocolate aka. it's gonna be white and black, out side housing of the rad is gonna be white, the water is gonna be white the lights are gonna be white, everything else is gonna be black

OC Maximus 11-14-2011 07:21 AM

uhh... is this all in your head or did you plan on starting soon? We are already on page 11 :P

kikicoco1334 11-14-2011 07:30 AM

hey now!
i had the ideas i was jumping between blue and red (that's what i have atm), red and black, black and white (like the old camaro), red and white (like a viper srt), or all the above like america

also i can't seem to figure it out what kind of tubing fits my the best, there is 1/2 ID and 1/2 OD not really sure which one is my, i think i have the 1/2 fittings:Dizzy:

oh and two of the pages are you guys talking about diff between duck and duct tape :P:P:P

I'm starting to think it's mental masturbation

For white tubing, ummm ... buy white tubing:taunt: Chocolate is brown, not black hhmm.. what could make it brown ??? :D

Most of the times the ID is what they quote. If they quote two numbers than the ID is first and the OD is second. This however goes out the window if you're buying pressure tubing :P

now just wondering which one of those works

or

MaadDaawg 11-14-2011 10:38 AM

Kiki,

If yu are using 1/2 fittings, you can use

7/16 ID 5/8 OD
7/16 ID 11/16 OD
1/2 ID X 5/8 OD
1/2 ID 3/4 OD

Tygon 3603 is very flexible and long lasting. Won't kink like vynle hose will. 7/16 gives you a real tight fitting on your fittings, but the 3/4 gives you greater preasure handling, which you really don't need. If you're going to use compression fittings, make sure they are for the size tubing you get

kikicoco1334 11-14-2011 10:53 AM

Thank you MD, I now have everything on it's way to me, so we should be good to go ;)

Now just waiting on Thanksgiving break

kikicoco1334 11-15-2011 01:52 PM

Just real quick......
6ft should be enough for my rig right?
I have a tiny system Antec Sonata

Same as this with out the PSU
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811129024

MaadDaawg 11-16-2011 03:29 AM

Sounds about right, but difficult for me to know not really seeing it live. Thinking I used 10/12ft for my dual loop in a full tower though. This was with a dual loop, dual resv/pump in a dual bay slot so the distances were less than if I had used a pump mounted at the bottom of the case.

don't forget to take into account the exterior mounted rads - leave enough extra tubing to move them if you need to.

kikicoco1334 11-16-2011 06:33 AM

Yep I forgot taking count of the tubing between CPU and rad then to GPU.
I emailed the guy last night and doubled my original size of the order.
On the order said 2~3days and it's coming from Indianan, REALLY hopping it's gonna be like 1 day or so :rofl
But think again, it NEEDS to be 3 days, recently I found out i have absolutely no self control and I have two project due at the end of this week

I got my rig a part, and seems like the light strip is really a lot longer then I remembered so gonna change that up a little and also the old way i had the lights in it didn't really give the maximum lighting in the rig, cuz some of them had to over lap to fit.

My tablet is out of batt atm, but I'll post the new idea i got on the mounting for the rig is a little smarter and more removable

kikicoco1334 11-16-2011 06:49 AM

1 Attachment(s)
here y'all go!

pretty much install the mount first then install it on the case

MaadDaawg 11-16-2011 08:53 AM

WOW... that's a big rad man :D

Things you don't think will need changing always require some tweak or another.

If I order from him via UPS Ground on Monday, I get in on Tuesday cause I'm in Chicago. If I order 3 day shipping a Monday order will get here on weds/thurs - the bastards sit on it so you don't figure out the cheaper shipping :Dizzy:

kikicoco1334 11-16-2011 09:01 AM

The guy was telling me he is mailing it out today, let me get this test done i'll post what ever i am about to say in about 1hr or so

MaadDaawg 11-16-2011 09:06 AM

oh shit

we gotta wait a fucking hour to hear what you're gonna say :Dizzy:

:ohcrap:

:D

kikicoco1334 11-16-2011 11:48 AM

god damn it...
i just erased all the shit i typed....

well i was gonna say, my rad isn't that much bigger than yours dude, i have the std mcr-320 with 3 120mm fan on it, but more or less i am just glad i am about to be done with this rig so i can go back having fun.

oh and the new idea of my is gonna be better for the mounting as well, better air flow and all that good stuff

everything should be here this friday tho, but i prob ain't gonna beable to get to it till after 1630 cuz i don't get out of class till 1150, 1200 i have oil change (no idea how the hell am i gonna beable to make it up there....) then finally getting my fucking camera, i made an appointment with the general manager over there and he is gonna make sure i walk out with something.
