lol idk about all that you guys are funny lol

neuro you can bench over 5.2ghz which none of mine can ;)

1st chip is booting 52x100 easy enough...but x53 seems to be trouble. posts and goes to a black screen and hangs...faaak

rickss69 02-08-2011 01:06 PM

My original chip would bench no higher on the Biostar mb (5.3GHz). My new 2600K should be here tm...it is from a batch that I have seen x58 on Biostar mb's.

rickss69 02-08-2011 01:12 PM

Wish you could have gotten two from separate batches. I think you would had a better chance at finding a gem like that.

Splave 02-08-2011 02:02 PM

Yeah but mwave was the only place I could find in stock :X

Hondacity 02-08-2011 02:13 PM

Not bad Splave, Might I suggest running Waza though? :ohcrap:

And whats cuts the power off when you start Spi??? I had an issue running spi on a system that was wPrime stable... I just added more juice though...

Splave 02-08-2011 04:01 PM

yeah im just running to see if its stable, no maxmem, no priority, wazza, services etc

5300 is max 32m. settings 5320 with turboV causes bsod. must boot 99.5x53 then up to 100 in windows

will try the other chip in a bit.

Neuromancer 02-08-2011 04:03 PM

Very nice. I just tried the new BIOS real quick and I can't boot 5.2 :(

Tried 52x and 51x @102.

Will try again tomorrow in the cold working up from 5 GHz.

5320 is the benchable max on my rev c chip with 100.7x53 in bios. it doesn't like 99.Xx54 at all.

Hope your #2 does better Mang!

hey neuro I just flashed and had a hell of a time getting the c6 and speedstep garbage to stick on boot lol. Finally worked itself out.

Here is chip #2, mem is still slow etc going to try higher now. Low volts is nice I guess :keeporder:

@ocm it wont do 9 huh?

what type of volts you using to the ram?

w0000000t x54 :) needed slight bump to VCCIO from stock to get past xp loading

Hondacity 02-08-2011 05:35 PM

increased vccio, vcore
decreased temps...

Splave 02-08-2011 05:42 PM

55x100 passed 1m and pf :D bumping up again to 56 right now

Patch 02-08-2011 05:47 PM

Nice to hit the 5.4 level Allen.

RMA'd my SB mobo for refund and sold my 2600K. Wondering if I should have held on to it......5.2 ghz wall, but 108 baseclock......should have tried it on a different board first.

Anyway. Nice to live vicariously through you guys as I won't really be benching for the next few months.

Edit: 5.5 level

well I think anywhere is a crap shoot, these last 2 are the same batch and 1 is a 5287 max and this one is way better. It starts to boot up 56x100 but keeps scrolling xp bootup, needs some more volts somewhere. Sucks turboV evo wont work on my xp install only my 2003 server install and the program is in chinese ftl.

Damn where does the time go in a day, gotta get some shut eye. More speed, bump mem multi and switch over to my server install tomorrow.

ocgmj 02-08-2011 06:20 PM

Sick work homie ;)

Mine does that on 57 multi. Just keeps cycling the Windows bootscreen. Sure if I could get it colder more volts would solve the problem. My chip needs more volts to get where it needs to go compared to some others. Then again mine goes higher than most of those others. Mine also seems to be a hotter chip. Wish mine did 5.5ghz at those volts. What type of cooling you using?

mine boots @ 57x and 58x...but won't boot into windows...this is a known issue...some cpus can't handle the load....when turbo kicks in when booting into windows..

DrNip 02-08-2011 06:31 PM

2 1/2 hours work for only 41 points tonight. Got this Hawk figured out though out of it all. Hell of an overclocking card. Wish I could say that about all GPU's. Need to do a XP install tomorrow and run all benches besides Vantage. For some reason Aqua won't run on my Windows 7 install. Will have to run it on XP as well. GTX 560 and 4870 coming in tomorrow too. Gots to find time to get this all in before it gets warm again.
Hopefully I can break the 1,000 team points threshold afterwards. Gettin close.

Wonder if I wait to kick in turbo while in Windows instead of while loading Windows.

Hondacity 02-08-2011 06:48 PM

already tried that...

turbo kicks in..when you load windows...the delay doesn't help at all

Hondacity 02-08-2011 06:48 PM

congrats al ...you'll do justice :D..wish it were 57x though..

Needs 1.74 to not error out of spi32m.

rickss69 02-08-2011 07:30 PM

After trying my original chip in the Biostar and clocking the same 5.3GHz I'm fairly certain it is the cpu holding me back. The WS Revolution and the 2600K both get shipped back to NewEgg tm. Pretty certain they will just refund...hopefully the inbound 2600K will perform better than the last in the Biostar mb.

Witchdoctor 02-08-2011 10:46 PM

Seems sometimes you have a good CPU sometimes you don't
