Outstanding work NY!

Keep "Fostering the Fever" brothas!

OCM

GFDuke 12-23-2010 10:38 PM

Hook, Line and sinker.

ny_driver 12-24-2010 03:35 AM

Manipulating the text in the HWbot signature is tiresome for sure. It's getting better, but I can't seem to get the best OC back on the signature.

Looks like the LN2 kept overnight, but I probably only have enough to get the pot to temp. It's amazing the pot was still reading -20 at least a half hour after dismounting it.

Off to the PO then I'll try to freeze the 3700+ for a couple points......doubtful though as it was a very popular chip.

Neuromancer 12-24-2010 05:51 AM

Nicely done NY. LN2 addiction sinks it claws again :)

w00t w00t!

ny_driver 12-24-2010 06:03 AM

Thanks bro!

grrrrrr....I wasted ~3 liters on that 3700+ and I've a good mind to take it out back and shoot it. The chip is shot apparently. Ohh well.

Still got a few liters to go. :D

ny_driver 12-24-2010 10:12 AM

I had easily 15 liters left this morning. I had to break out the 1090T with nothing else to do. Got it up to 5.689GHz

Now I know a 30 is a weekend for me for awhile anyways.

ny_driver 12-24-2010 02:38 PM

Well, all in all I'd say it was a good experience. Next time will be more relaxed, probably just do the 1090T again with 15 liters this time instead of 4, then the 965BE the next day with the rest.

I doubt I'll get 4 silvers and 4 bronzes next time, but that's ok. :cool3:.......it will still be fun. I'm going to have to grab a few more 939 cpus to torture.

Who knows I might get another 30 sooner than I think. That's what happens with hard drugs.

Merry Christmas to all. Let it be a frosty cold new year.

I'll add some sexy pictures here soon.....I musta took 50 at least.

DOM 12-24-2010 03:04 PM

it is like a drug but when you dont have cash for it it sucks lol

nice work ny

I have about 20 questions and mostly because my thermometer wouldn't go below -112.

So when the pot is filled right up and bubbling, but not evaporating off quickly, like in the picture, does that indicate that it's like below a certain temperature?

Thanks.

DOM 12-24-2010 04:27 PM

its depends on the cpu my 980 ever went to -180c :P

but its -180c or lil higher pots at ln2 temps ;)

merry x-mas going to the inlaws :(

Kal-EL 12-24-2010 04:44 PM

yer prolly somewhere near -190c at that point ;)

ny_driver 12-24-2010 04:52 PM

That's awesome! :cool3: The only CB I think I had was on the old single core Optys...they were bugging out @ ~ -40 according to the thermometer that's not accurate, although it seemed accurate up to when it stopped at -112.

Good night from NY and enjoy your Christmas.

Kal-EL 12-24-2010 04:53 PM

Well done :)

sounds right to me :D great work NY addictive stuff huh!

ny_driver 12-25-2010 03:27 AM

Yeah.....I could hardly pull myself away to eat or anything.....and at 3am I debated staying up to finish the LN2. There was like 15 more liters thank god I went to bed.

Probably get a refill sometime this week if I can scrape together $49.(don't tell anyone, but I'm going to rob my change jar if necessary):smackbum:

EDIT: what kind of case/bench is this....I want something similar to it. this here . I can't quite read the writing.

Splave 12-25-2010 03:34 AM

^ addict ;)

ny_driver 12-25-2010 04:03 AM

Nevermind I figured it out. Thanks.

:ohcrap:EDIT: wow now that all the smoke has cleared my overclocking lair looks something like a bomb went off.

Motherboards, cpus, tubes of TIM, coffee cups, Mt.Dew cans, tools, remote controls, empty boxes, pieces of insulation and hoses strewn everywhere.

:bench:Fill er' up please.

Splave 12-26-2010 10:54 AM

should be really proud dude, smashed your goal of ln2 goodness! :D

Neuromancer 12-26-2010 08:21 PM

Such a pretty pic.

I ran AMD on LN2 as well and even a single core sempron did not let me get a vapor free shot like that of the pot.

Awesome ness is in the bencher not hte shot :) I lack it.
You pwn it :)

Thanks brother.

It was easy to get no vapor.....all I did was keep pouring into my super-insulated pot. I think the extra insulation helps hold the temperature better.....maybe. Check these pics out. The only place any frost formed was on the top of the pot which is how I planned it. ;)

Look at the pot about a half hour maybe after dismounting it. It's insanely cold still.

I had fun, and will be definitely getting another 30 before New Years....maybe that's how I'll spend New Years Eve....it sounds much more fun to me than getting drunk.

I gotta figure out how to clock my 1090T better....I could only get 5689MHz.

Splave 12-27-2010 02:54 AM

what board you using with the 1090t?

ny_driver 12-27-2010 02:58 AM

Crosshair IV Formula.

Splave 12-27-2010 03:20 AM

with crosshair we had best luck with leaving most things on auto :X

ny_driver 12-27-2010 03:55 AM

You mean like the NB and HT or the voltages? Could you be more specific?

I have LLC, C&Q and all that stuff disabled and I usually leave all the voltages on auto except the vcore,cpu/nb, and DRAM....and when I was benching I was setting the NB/HT @ ~ 2400/2100...you know fairly low but not auto with the memory underclocked. I tried up to like 1.82v vcore....is the voltage necessary?

ny_driver 12-28-2010 06:31 AM

ok I'm back with another 30+ liters :) I got to fill it myself right to the top, which is a few extra liters I think. I know the guy that works down there.

I'm going to try to save it until Thursday and Friday night though. While I plan and study.

I've been looking at other peoples really high OCs and this one here strikes me as strange because of the very low voltage used. What do you make of that? Golden chip?

EDIT: it looks like he has a pot with no insulation too....could that be?

Hondacity 12-28-2010 06:35 AM

1. golden chip...nb maybe
2. voltage was @ 1.8xxx.......is rather impressive...inte'ls 7ghz on 32nm needs more volts.
3. amd is improving their max cpuz...this will be fun..
4. gb-amd-ud7 is a freak

I didn't even notice the comment where he says it's actually 1.856v:blush:...........and I was wondering about that UD7 if it is actually better than my CHIV or not.

I did a little shopping today to get ready for tomorrow night.
The 2 liter thermos will be way better. I went right to Walmart and got it like someone suggested for $15. thanks whoever that was.

I'm psyched, I've got everything ready to go. So tomorrow evening it's on. Me vs. the 1090T. Then Saturday I'll take on the 965BE.

DOM 12-30-2010 12:44 PM

it was me ;)

im thinking of getting a 2nd one lol

ny_driver 12-30-2010 12:59 PM

I thought it was you;)

Top doesn't freeze up huh?

DOM 12-30-2010 01:23 PM

the lid/cap ? i trashed that you dont need it unless your going to use it for your drinks lol

i also cut the top of the tip off, thinking it might frost it self closed but i dont think it will mine has very lil frost on the tip when pouring

ny_driver 12-30-2010 01:31 PM

I'll experiment.

Did you try the fancy pour top thing? I'll try it, but I was thinking about just removing the stopper part of the top and using it that way.

I'd rather have it in a semi-sealed container.......so I can waste time taking the top off and on every time I fill up.

EDIT: the pour spout thing sucks. I took the stopper out and it's better. It pours kinda slowly, but doesn't take too long to fuill the pot.(practiced with H2O)...probably fill the pot 12-15 times from 1 container.

DOM 12-30-2010 01:59 PM

so you wanna waste time taking the lid off lol

i didnt try it but ill post a pic of what i did to mine when i get home from work in 4hrs :(

ny_driver 12-30-2010 02:07 PM

I pour too fast with the top off and it slops out. I'm trying to be neat this time. Last time it was splashing everywhere, which doesn't seem to hurt anything, just wasteful.

I was filling my thermoses with a 4" funnel...lol...the mouth of the tank is ~4".

DOM 12-30-2010 02:13 PM

yeah i use a plastic cup i cut the bottom off to thats fits perfect in the pot also helps when pouring with the fans blowing

post a pic of that also ;)

your making me wanna go get some ln2 tomorrow :P

ny_driver 12-30-2010 02:20 PM

get on it!:clapping:

We can party it up.

DOM 12-30-2010 02:41 PM

lol... thing is i got a someone going to loanme there gpu pot... and it should be here by next weekend and wanna go for the gold on the gpus i got :) cuz i have any cpus to bench

but i could work on the 980x oc for 2d and 3d clocks but idk hmmmm cuz i not getting payed tomorrow and thats like almost 4 fill ups on my dewar im not goin to have on next weeks pay check :( pos job

ny_driver 12-30-2010 03:05 PM

money sucks.......I robbed my change jar for this fill up. What do you work where they sell it or something? That would be good and evil.

DOM 12-30-2010 03:18 PM

yeah wish i had a big ass tank to get a truck load of the stuff for cheap like airgas do

i googled and found a truck load is like 6 cents a L

just saw your edit idk what your asking but i was saying on one days pay i could fill up my dewar 4 times at airgas

im getting it for like .93 a L wish i was getting that .50 like splave :(

ny_driver 12-30-2010 03:51 PM

geez I'm paying $1.45/liter for 30 at a time. I can get it for $1.10 if I get 180, but I'd have to pay $1.50/day rental....screw that.....soon I won't be getting it there.

I found a place that doesn't charge rent they do a credit check/deposit system, and I think the LN2 was only like $ .70. They have 165 liter tanks.
